Itinerary highlights
First, stay overnight in Athens. Depending on your flight, you could see the Acropolis before embarking for Piraeus port first thing in the morning.

Cruise highlights include:

• Alexandria... most passengers use this port as a gateway to Cairo, around two and a half hours away. The ship stays overnight in port, so there's plenty of time to get there and back. You could also visit Bibliotecha Alexandria, a huge cultural complex paying tribute to the classical Library of Alexandria.
• Rhodes... the port is a 5-minute stroll from the Old Town. Venture inside the ancient city walls to discover the story of the Knights of St John and the Palace of the Grand Masters. Or, you could head to the exceptionally well-preserved Acropolis at Lindos.
• Santorini... we recommend taking the cable car from the Old Port of Gialos to the cliffside capital, Fira. It takes around five minutes and offers views across the volcanic caldera to the Aegean Sea. Explore pretty Fira or continue to Oia, the island's most famous town.
• Katakolon... ancient Greeks visited Olympia for the original Olympic Games, which begin around 776BC. A direct train from the port takes under an hour. See the atmospheric ruins of the ancient stadiums and temples. The famous Nike Winged Victory sculpture is in the adjacent museum.
• Messina, Sicily... the ship docks right next to the town centre. It has delicious pizzerias and pretty cafes at every turn. From Messina, you could explore further afield in Mount Etna and Taormina.
• Sorrento, Italy... you'll be tendered ashore to the port, then its five minutes by bus to the city centre. Wander the ancient, pastel-coloured streets with ancient palaces and temples. The Amalfi Coast villages and Pompeii are around 30 minutes away by direct train. 
• Civitavecchia... the ride inland to Rome takes just over an hour. In the Eternal City, see the Colosseum, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain. Despite all the bustle of a modern capital, you can still picture the ancient Romans on the streets.
• Barcelona... you'll finish up in Barcelona, where you'll disembark the ship and make your own way to the airport.

Explorations by Norwegian is a curated series of port-focused itineraries, offering a variety of lengths and destinations. 

Cruise Critic calls Regatta the "Goldilocks ship" as it's not too big, nor too small. Accommodating just 694 passengers, it never feels too crowded. During the day, you can relax by the swimming pool, or in the plush spa. In the evenings, you can catch a Broadway-style show, or sing along in the piano bar.

There are five dining options on board, all of which are included. Speciality options include an Italian restaurant, and a steak and seafood venue. There's also a poolside grill, a cafe, and the main dining room. This offers plenty of variety each day, including a "taste of the world" special at lunch times.
