Itinerary
Begin in Porto, where you'll spend a night aboard the Porto Mirante. The next day, embark through the picturesque Douro Valley. You'll sail among the steep terraced vineyards you see in all the postcards, and stop in the villages of Leverinho and Folgosa.
The following morning, continue along the Douro to Vega Terrón, then continue to Pocinho. This quaint little village is less than 15 miles from the Spanish border. Stay overnight, then embark at dawn for Pinhão, in the heart of Portugal's wine country. It is surrounded by old-growth vineyards and country estates. Its azulejo-tiled train station is truly unique.
Stay a whole day and night, then continue through the rural countryside to Regua, where you'll arrive the next day. The Douro Museum is a must for wine-lovers. Continue to Porto in the afternoon, and spend a final evening in the city before leaving the following morning.
