Itinerary
You'll fly into Athens and transfer to the cruise port, Piraeus. Board Balmoral and call into:

• Valletta... built by the Knights of St. John, this grand fortress city features winding honeycomb streets and St. John's Co-Cathedral. The latter is home to opulent Baroque decor and an original Caravaggio masterpiece.
• Trapani... this pretty city sits on the western tip of Sicily, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Wander the narrow streets of the historic centre, or take a walk along the waterfront.
• Cartagena... Lonely Planet calls this "one of Spain's most historically fascinating places". It's home to an impressive restored Roman amphitheatre and a castle overlooking the city. 
• Gibraltar... the Rock of Gibraltar is an impressive sight. You could take a cable car up to the top to see the famous Barbary macaques. They're the only wild apes in Europe. 
• Agadir... nestled at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, but also occupying a coastal position, Agadir offers the best of both worlds. Soak up some sun on the beach, or shop for spices in the souks. 
• Santa Cruz de Tenerife... this island is rich in biodiversity and natural beauty. According to Lonely Planet, it is the "striking grande dame" of the Canaries.

Ship details
Balmoral is the smallest of the three ships in Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' fleet. It carries 1,275 passengers at full capacity. Given the ship's size, there is an intimate feel onboard, and the crew even get to know you by name.

Daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included, and an afternoon tea is served every day. Enjoy finger sandwiches, scones, and cakes. Dine at Fred. Olsen's speciality restaurant, for a supplement, to sample Asian, Grill, or Italian cuisine.

Choose to relax in one of the lounges during the day. Or, visit The Observatory for panoramic ocean views. At night, you can grab a drink at The Morning Light Pub, or unwind in the piano bar. Watch big-production shows in the elegant theatre, and enjoy dancing after the evening performance. You'll have £150 onboard credit per cabin, which can be used on things like shore excursions, speciality restaurants, and spa treatments.
