Itinerary
First, stay a night in Rome, so you can transfer to Civitavecchia port first thing the next morning. The 10-night itinerary includes:
- Livorno... this port city is pretty in itself, with elegant belle époque buildings and a Little Venice area. Or, you can use it as a jumping-off point to visit Florence, Lucca, or Pisa (under 20 minutes away by train).
- Portofino... you've probably seen this village on a postcard. Colourful buildings are nestled under steep coastal hills, and it is a favourite with celebrities. Visit Paraggi, Italy's poshest beach, or just relax with an Aperol.
- Nice... the sea is warm enough for swimming in July and August. Ride the Petit Tourist Train through the old town, then relax on the golden sand.
- Saint-Tropez... ever since Brigitte Bardot filmed here in the 1950s, this port has been a haunt of the jet set. Go window-shopping in the boutique-lined streets and watch the yachts bob in the harbour.
- Sanary-sur-Mer... this 16th-century port is the gateway to Provence. Explore the street markets to dig out some traditional Provencal crafts. Or pop into one of the seafood restaurants to try the catch of the day.
- Port Vendres... this typical fishing village is near the Spanish border. Just beyond lies the terraced vineyards and shady groves of the Languedoc wine region.
- Mahon... make sure you're on deck as you approach Menorca. The views of the huge cliffs topped with traditional white cottages are mesmerising. The harbour is full of Georgian-era houses.
- Ibiza (overnight onboard)... this island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. Spend the whole day swimming and sunbathing, and stay overnight so you can enjoy the sunset.
You'll say goodbye to World Traveller in Barcelona and fly back to the UK.
Ship details
World Traveller is the second ship from Atlas Ocean Voyages, a cruise line that launched in 2021. The ship is designed to feel like a sleek mid-century yacht, beautifully decorated with wood panelling and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The ship only carries 196 passengers at full capacity, so the crew will know your name and preferences right away. The dress code is yacht-club casual throughout—you don't need to pack formal dress unless you want to.
"Dining is a highlight," says Cruise Critic. There's raw honeycomb and fresh-ground nut butter at the morning buffet. The ever-changing evening menus can include chateaubriand, freshly shaved truffles, lobster, and other local specialities
Fine wines, craft beers, cocktails, and spirits are also included, as are speciality coffees and afternoon tea.
On board, you'll find a heated pool with a whirlpool hot tub, a running track around the top deck, a gym, and a sauna (supplements apply).
Adventure Ocean Suites have a queen bed (which can be converted into twin beds on demand) and a large window. A mini-bar is stocked at your request, and you'll get 24-hour room service.
