Itinerary
Begin with a pre-cruise stay at the 5-star Ohla Barcelona. Head to the rooftop terrace for amazing views over the city. The restaurant is run by Michelin-starred chef Romain Fornell (supplements apply for bookings). The hotel is in the Gothic Quarter and is less than five minutes' walk from Barcelona Cathedral, the Rambla, and Plaça Catalunya.

The next morning, board Oceania Nautica and call at...

  • Villefranche-sur-Mer, France... pastel-coloured houses slope down to the idyllic harbour at this charming town that is the gateway to nearby Nice, Monaco, and Antibes, the summer playground of the international jetset.
  • Livorno, Italy... this pretty port is the gateway to Tuscany's rolling countryside and world-famous food. It takes just 15 minutes to travel to Pisa by train, so you can climb the Leaning Tower during your journey.
  • Civitavecchia, Italy... this is the gateway for days out in Rome. Spend an afternoon ticking off the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and more.
  • Alicante, Spain... stroll along the bustling waterfront or hike up to the top of Santa Bárbara Castle. You'll get glorious views of the city and its pristine beaches.
  • Cartagena, Spain... Lonely Planet calls this "one of Spain's most historically fascinating places". It's home to an impressive restored Roman amphitheatre and a castle overlooking the city.
  • Málaga, Spain... the birthplace of Picasso is one of Spain's most cultured cities. It's home to the hilltop citadels, art galleries, and trendy tapas bars close to a sandy beach along a palm-fringed promenade.
  • Cadiz, Spain... this Andalucian city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe. Think swaying palms, whitewashed buildings, and a beautiful, yellow-domed cathedral. It is also the departure point for optional shore excursions to Seville, an hour's drive away.
  • Lisbon, Portugal... time to disembark the ship and return home.
