Travelzoo's Alternative Guide to Euro 2016

You might have heard, but there’s a football competition going on. Euro 2016 started on 10 June and ends on 10 July.
That means a whole month of football. Depending on your point of view, this is either a brilliant or hellish prospect. We’ll leave you to decide.
Here at Travelzoo, we don’t pretend to know loads about the beautiful game. We’re pretty certain that the home nations will perform “bravely” before getting knocked out in the quarter-finals by Germany, Italy or Spain (one of whom will go on to win it).
Beyond that, we leave football chat to the experts and stick with what we do best – travel. That’s why we’ve put together this alternative guide to the competing nations. You won’t learn much about football, but you will learn some other brilliant facts, such as:
- Which European city holds an annual sausage dog festival
- The surprising origin of 80% of the world’s billiard balls
- The claimant to the title of largest country in Europe (it’s probably not the one you thought)
- The location of a church made mostly of human bones
- Which country is home to 6,000 bears
All of which, we think you’ll agree, is vastly more interesting than the football. To start, simply click on any of the links below or click here to return to the homepage of our Alternative Guide to Euro 2016.
