More Reasons to Go
- Southend-on-Sea is a classic seaside destination—think amusement arcades and the Adventure Island theme park. The world's longest pleasure pier, extending more than a mile into the estuary, is 20 minutes' walk away.
- "On offer are fabulous sea views, freshly cooked cuisine and exemplary service," says VisitEngland. The hotel holds a VisitEngland Gold Award and a Breakfast Award.
- You can take a walk along the seafront to sandy East Beach. You'll pass through Gunners Park and Shoebury Garrison. Both sites played a big role in artillery training across the 19th and 20th centuries.
- The hotel is about 15 minutes' drive from Leigh-on-Sea, home to many independent shops and eateries. Head down into Old Leigh for waterside pubs and cockle sheds selling fresh seafood.
- Southchurch Hall, a Medieval moated manor house, is five minutes' drive away. Or, visit the Central Museum to view objects from the tomb of an Anglo-Saxon prince. The nearby burial site was discovered in 2003 and the artefacts brought to the museum in 2019.
