The hotel sits in the centre of Peterborough, a short stroll from the Norman cathedral. The cathedral is home to the tomb of Catherine of Aragon. It was also the first resting place of Mary, Queen of Scots.
The Beatles stayed in December 1962 after playing at The Embassy Theatre. Opening for yodelling Australian Frank Ifield, they were reportedly not well received. They would release "Please Please Me", their first top-10 single, just one month later.
Steam enthusiasts (or fans of "Thomas the Tank Engine") should head to Nene Valley Railway. This preserved steam railway is home to the little blue engine from the children's books. Ten minutes' walk from the hotel, the line runs for seven and a half miles.
The city of Cambridge is a 30-minute drive away. It's known for its museums, cosy pubs, and impressive university buildings.
The pretty historic town of Stamford is around half an hour's drive away.

The Bull Hotel is a pleasant place to stay if you need accomodation in the area. Communal areas are well decorated with antiques and comfortable seating. The dining room has modern are and comfortable chairs. Breakfast choices are a bit limited but the cooked options were good. Bedrooms was well furnished and we appreciated two comfortable chairs. Staff were all friendly and helpful. And there is a hotel car park.
The only issue I had was that the allergy advice on the set menu was incorrect. Our waitress agreed and checked with the chef and came back with dairy free options which was OK. However the main course arrived with cream sauce which meant it had to be returned and changed.

Rooms were comfortable, but no electrics near bed head ( phone charging and medical machine). Some staff trying hard against the odds…

The catering and dining experience. Farce of dinner: asked for water 4 times, orders accepted and the food not available, wine ordered, repeated but unavailable (but still charged for!) dire roast beef, table not laid up despite booking…! The computer system was new, used as an excuse for everything that was wrong. Didn’t pass on my disability info so room allocated blind: fortunately ground floor!

2nd visit to this hotel as had such a brilliant experience on the 1st visit. This time was with friends. Six older women in 3 twin rooms. Everything was perfect. The rooms, the bar, the food and the staff are wonderful. We just kept remarking on each and every staff member for their friendly and professional approach. Nothing was too much trouble and a special mention must go to Alla who is so attentive in the restaurant.

The hotel is very central with easy access of the main square, the lovely cathedral and bus and trains to enable easy travel to other towns and attractions near Peterborough. Why wouldn’t you go ? Cannot fault in any way.

A wonderful break in a hotel in a place we wouldn’t normally visit, but we’re so glad we did!
The Bull Hotel is like a tardis- small
From the outside but vast inside with lots of nooks and crannies to enjoy a drink or something to eat.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated in the middle of Peterborough so we were able to park the car and leave it all
Weekend and enjoy walking instead.
Our Travelzoo deal included a three course meal on the first night and it was absolutely delicious and did not disappoint.
The buffet breakfast was plentiful and had a great choice.

The room was dated, but there was lots of hot water, complimentary toiletries, fluffy towels and a decent size television.
The only downside for me was that the bed was incredibly hard, as were the pillows. But it would not deter me from making a repeat booking in the future as everything else about our stay was exemplary!

We shared two nights with a couple of friends and the hotel was comfortable. Food and service was very good with a good range of options on our evening menu. Breakfast was excellent also with freshly prepared options available, plenty of coffee and tea along with continental and full English. Beds were a bit hard but the rooms were well appointed otherwise. We took the train to Cambridge for the day and without a car everything was convenient enough.

Another good stay on the Travelzoo deal. Used to be in Executive rooms but now just standard with less space and no air conditioning. Wish you could pay a supplement to upgrade but told not possible. Only gripe is electronic room keys constantly stop working and you have to go back and forth to Reception to get them reset. Apparently they know it is a real issue. Good set menu and great breakfast. Easy parking.

Best Tzoo deal we have ever had. Beautiful hotel with lots of ambience. Choice of food for our 3 course evening dinner. All freshly cooked and served on hot plates. Nicely presented too. Good breakfast and lovely staff. Would recommend to anyone.

Came on a travelzoo deal and it was great value for money . Food was excellent and rooms lovely too . Hotel is right opposite a shopping centre and there is a Wetherspoons pub at the back near the car park so it’s so convenient for shopping and eating and drinking as lots of places near the hotel to shop and eat out

On our second visit all was just as good as first time. Excellent food, wonderful attentive staff. Our room was a little cold at first. Immediately an extra heater was delivered. We love the decor & ambiance & the hotel is so handy for all amenities in Peterborough. Everything including train station. Within easy walking distance.

The room and bed was comfy. The evening meal the night we arrived was delicious and the menu had a good choice . The breakfast had a wide choice of cereal, continental and cooked options. The staff member on reception was very welcoming and waiting staff were attentive.

We arrived in the dark and found it quite tricky to locate the entrance to the car park which is rather tucked away despite the directions given in the hotel printed confirmation . We had to resort to asking a passer-by who was very helpful.

The city centre location with free parking is amazing and the value for money, exceptional. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and the staff were all great. The room was comfortable with good facilities but definitely in need of refurbishment. Having said that, we would certainly stay here again with no hesitation.

Hotel building good, with well tgemed decoration However the room was under heated & rad. not working & bath rail only sporadically. No additional blankets available when asked but an electric heater was supplied, but of course we only used this when 'in' the room due to safety aspects.

Hotel was central, cosy, and decorated for Christmas. Room was large, comfortable bed, huge bathroom, fluffy white towels, heated towel rail. Room was slightly cold, so I mentioned this to the cleaner. We went out and returned a couple of hours later to a warm room and a small radiator heater.
Restaurant food was tasty with vegetarian options. Staff were lovely.

Car Park was hard to find as the postcode of the car park is different to the hotel. The receptionist gave me a map to follow.

It was a great location and having parking was a bonus.
Our first breakfast was very good, staff and food served at the table was excellent, plates taken away and the food was fresh and hot.
however the buffet breakfast we felt the food was dried up and the safe not so vigialne at table service.
All in all it was a good stay.

The hotel and staff were very accommodating, we had to move rooms as there wasn't a charging point on each side of the bed.

the room was a little cool so we turned up the thermostat on the radiator, we heard some rattling and banging, then water wash gushing out of the radiator, it hadn't been refilled and bled after the redecorate.
maintenance staff quickly resolved the problem (Howard) and in the process told interesting information about Peterborough.

Went to the bull on a travel zoo deal. The hotel was beautiful and the Christmas decorations were amazing. The location is great very near the shopping centre and the cathedral. The staff were friendly and helpful. The gluten free choices at breakfast, lunch and dinner were very good and the food in general was very tasty and well presented. The only problem we had was that on the Friday evening there was a Christmas party that went on until 1am with very loud music. Understandable this near Christmas but we feel we should have been warned about this when we booked so we could have changed our dates. Overall a very nice 2 night stay
