The hotel decor throughout is tired but some improvements to update are taking place. The room however, was warm, clean and with comfortable bed and pillows. TV was very small but adequate . Large bathroom with shower and very hot water - good. Hotel staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. Hotel a good base for exploring surrounding areas.

Room was on 1st floor & ok, we could only just see the sea & I had paid extra for a sea view so not impressed. We had very noisy people above us so after the first day we were offered a room on the top floor with fabulous sea & castle views, it was a family room for 5 but solved the noise problem. Pillows need to be replaced for something softer. The food was fantastic & the chef very attentive to his customers. I’d go back just for the food.

We had come down from Betws y Coed where we had stayed at The Royal Oak. The decor at the hotel was tired and the breakfast, whilst ok, was pre cooked and did not look that appetising. Our room, 21, had a large locked cupboard and a stair head to the room above.

The lion Hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk from the beach and castle. This was our first visit to Criccieth but won't be our last and we would definitely stay in this hotel again. Very friendly, helpful staff with a warm welcome on arrival. We had a room at the back of the hotel which meant it was quite a dark room with no view, however it was very quiet giving us a great nights sleep.

the hotel is In the centre of the village, easy to walk to the beach, and has free parking. We had a bright and airy room with views out to the old castle. The room was warm and the bed was comfortable There was lots of choice of the elements of the cooked breakfast, and options like veggie sausages and poached eggs were happily provided when requested. Slices of melon and whole fruit such as bananas and apples were available, but I think It would have been nice to have had some cut up fruit to have with the provided yoghurt. All the staff were came in contact with couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome.

Everything went very well from start to finish, Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was spacious, bed comfortable and bathroom was modern. Breakfast was very good with a decent range of starters and hot food. My only quibble was the lack of cheese or ham etc. as a cold option for the "main course".
We had an evening meal at the Lion on our second night, and it was very satisfactory, with (sizeable portions of tasty food and good value (soup, welsh rarebit and 2 chicken curries). The hotel has a great location just off the main street and one close to the esplanade. Our deal was terrific value and we would not hesitate to return as Criccieth is a good base for exploring the beautiful Lleyn peninsula.

Hotel and rooms a little dated but have to commend the hotel in being open through the winter and thereby offering such a good rate for 2 night B&B. Reception was good, pleasant staff though the bar man could be a bit more friendly and lively. Room was fine with all that was required for a short stay - clean, plenty of storage though the shower and Tv were of limited size especially the latter when trying to watch it from on the bed. Breakfast was ok though the eggs and bacon one morning are not very appetising. being dried up.

Very impressed with the door sign that could be used to put on your door at night if you had hearing problems. Some people feel that would make them vulnerable . So hotels should be gaining this information as part of their booking in process and keeping a daily tally for guests who may be at risk during an evacuation.
