With just 68 rooms on site that offer beach, overwater and sunset views, this posh resort has quickly climbed the list as one of the top places to stay in the Maldives. The Maldives is fully open for US travelers, so when you are ready to go, paradise awaits. Simply present a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours before your flight to gain entry into the country. My husband and I booked and rebooked this vacation several times before we were actually able to go. It was worth the wait! The staff was very responsive to our change of dates and requests as we were booking. I had mentioned early in the booking process that we would like a villa as close to the end of the walk as possible and arrived to find we were in the villa second from the end. All of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Staff coordinated with the hotels we stayed with before and after our arrival, which made the whole thing effortless. It was so nice to arrive and have someone waiting for you. We never even had to stop and think about where we needed to go. We bought our vacation through Travelzoo and the discounted activities/excursions offered through Travelzoo were different than the ones typically offered through the resort. The resort honored Travelzoo's discounts with the provided voucher. You can tell they work hard to provide excellent customer service. The resort is less than a 1 minute golf cart ride from the hotel, though other than the sound of the rare plane landing and taking off, you would never know you were airport was there. The grounds are beautifully kept. We stayed in an over the water sunset villa with a pool and loved it. The room was large and bed comfy. The mini bar was restocked daily. Internet connection was good throughout the resort. The sunset view was unobstructed and beautiful. Snorkeling right off of our deck was amazing when we were able to get in the water. We saw so many types of fish, sharks, and turtles both from our deck and when snorkeling. Unfortunately, it was quite windy on most days so we weren't able to jet ski, kayak, or stand up paddle board. The pool was fresh water, and we were happy we selected a villa with a pool. We only ate at the buffet though there is an Italian restaurant as well. The buffet had such a large and delicious variety of food that we never felt the need to go to the restaurant. We booked a couples massage. As someone who has had hundreds of massages, I can honestly say it was excellent. I also had a facial which I enjoyed. I felt the prices for the spa treatments were reasonably priced. We really enjoyed the adults only atmosphere. Even though there were no children, it was not a party atmosphere. I would highly recommend coming here if you are looking to relax in a beautiful location with good food, great service, and no children.
I'm stunned that we showed up to this resort and everything looked exactly like the photos. Whenever you Google "the Maldives" this must be the resort that pops up in photos. Everything has been great so far. The staff is very accommodating and courteous. The water is amazing. The villa is well-situated on the water. The infinity pool and direct access to the Indian Ocean is unmatched! We will certainly return if we can afford to. I don't want to leave now!

Not my first trip to the Maldives but my first in an overwater bungalow. If you’re going to come all the way over to the Maldives, an over water bungalow is a must. Pay the extra money. You will never remember the cost and you will always remember the experience. The MERCURE team is fabulous. First class service. Great amenities.

It was a very relaxed vacation with a few snorkeling trips. The staff all around are extremely good and professional the food was excellent. Chef Selvakumar went out of the way to cook vegetarian food for us. Overall we had a fabulous vacation at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo

Staff went above and beyond, upgrading us to a villa with a pool at no extra cost since we’d stayed here before and we’re celebrating retirement. Amenities seem to be a little less than previous visit, but still really great (ie change in vouchers for discount amount of spa, in-room minibar scaled back). Amazing staff eager to accommodate wants/needs.

Overall a very good experience at the resort. However, the weather was horrible the 5 days we stayed with a lot of rain, very high winds, and very rough seas. This caused red flag conditions which prevented us from doing any water activities. It was a huge disappointment for our group. Obviously the resort cannot control the weather, but beware that the weather here can be nasty and last for days.

We were warmly greeted on our arrival to Mercure Resort, about 350 miles south of Malè.
The resort is so pretty and peaceful and our water villa was beautiful.
We are not great at doing nothing on vacation but it seemed to occur quickly and easily for us in this tropical paradise.
The food was wonderful and the Vista al a carte restaurant provided some excellent dishes in a boutique restaurant over the water.
Mercure Kooddoo is a fabulous place to relax, unwind and reconnect.
We loved our stay here and are so thankful to all of the staff for their warm and attentive hospitality.
We highly recommend MERCURE .

We bought the voucher as it sounded like good value for money. Getting To the Maldives is a long journey so we added other countries to visit. Still felt it was an effort to get there but once there felt it was more than worth it. The resort is beautiful. The staff without exception go above and beyond and are friendly and cheerful. Hotel is advertised as 4 star. The staff make more like a 5 star resort. Reception welcomes guests like royalty (lined up at the entrance waving as we arrive). After a quick intro we are shuttled off to the villa. After that it’s beautiful water, hot temps, and abundance of food and drink. The international staff are always ready to help, always genuine and always happy.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We attempted to go in April but storms in Dubai prevented us so we came in Aug when the weather was going to be wet.
The resort is nice, rooms a bit dated but comfortable. The staff were friendly and very attentive.
Due to winds there was very limited water sports. The buffet food was consistently good. There is always room for improvement but we found we had plenty of options and good variety from one day to the next.
The only downside was even though we went on an all inclusive package there were additional charges for most things including some meal options.

The resort is just a couple of minutes from the airport. I think it is fairly small but I have nothing to compare with. There were no kids when we were there which was nice. The resort would have more upbeat vibe in the better weather.
The reason we wouldn’t go back is simply because it is three flights through 9 time zones to get there so a lot of travel time and there are other interesting places to visit.

We are having such a wonderful time. We are grateful for Travelzoo's amazing voucher program. We got to experience paradise. We have traveled to many resorts such as Jamaica, Fiji, Costa Rica, Boracay, Thailand, Bali, Paris, Germany, Netherlands, and Dubai. By far, this is the best accommodation. Mercure Koodoo treated us like royalty. We can't express our gratitude enough in making our 20th anniversary very special. The all inclusive to all drinks including alcohol topped our expectations. This includes all meals, mini bar with alcohol and soft drinks, snacks, and bucket of beer daily. Furthermore, the transfer from Male airport to Koodoo was included which would have cost $800 for both of us. By, the way, this is an adult only resort. Excellent value. Every angle within 360 degrees is photogenic. The background looks like backdrop. We were able to see so much varieties of fish around our bungalow and through the glass bottom floor. I highly recommend using Travelzoo for quality service.

The long flight times were so worth it. The staff was wonderful, caring, and dedicated to taking the best care of their guests. The tiny everyday touches made us feel like honored family members. We had a couple of hick ups, which the staff took care of quickly and efficiently. A shout out to Karouna, Ahod, Made, Shiifa, and all the smiling folks I've forgotten their names. The spa was glorious, the diving spectacular, the signature cocktails marvelous.

Even if you don't dive, there is lots to do. Snorkeling, yoga and cooking classes, water aerobics, well placed hammocks in shady places with great views of the water and lovely folks to make all your dreams come true.

I am genuinely shocked that there is not a swim up bar. The staff cater to you and deliver your drinks so you don’t need it but having a swim up bar does change the ambiance (in my opinion).

From the time we got our voucher to getting the time we wanted, the process has been smooth. The communication with the resort has been quick and efficient. Once we got to the Male airport there was staff to meet us and inform us of the next steps. It was lovely to be able to go to a lounge to relax before flying to Kooddoo. The resort staff met us at the airport and our check-in was smooth and quick. We are divers and tge dive operation is fantastic. All the staff are friendly, personable and customer oriented. We would recommend this resort.

The trip to the Maldives took a little longer than expected. When we arrived at the resort I was a little surprised to learn that I had to pay *right then* for the airfare from Male to Kooddoo (I had assumed it was included in the Travelzoo payment.) The food was uniformly excellent, with many choices at each meal. The activities basically revolved around swimming or boating in the ocean or swimming in the very large pool, which I was totally OK with. The over-water suite was beautiful, with an elaborate bathroom suite. It was a wonderful adventure, but honestly, travelling literally half-way around the world was wearing for a 5-night stay.

The minor let downs of the runway being on the island, and the very crowded transfer are overshadowed by the great food, drinks, service and amazing rooms. Speaking of diving, our experiences were made truly memorable by the fantastic team at the dive center, especially Kochey and Shard. Their expertise and enthusiasm added an extra layer of excitement to our underwater adventures, making each excursion unforgettable.
And let's talk about the food – simply outstanding! From sumptuous seafood delicacies to international cuisine, every meal was a culinary delight. The restaurant staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional, even making my birthday celebrations truly special with their thoughtful gestures.
As for the accommodations, they were nothing short of a dream. The rooms, meticulously designed and impeccably maintained, provided the perfect sanctuary after a day of exploration. Every detail was carefully curated, ensuring maximum comfort and luxury throughout our stay.

We went for our honeymoon in Feb 2023. This was the trip of a lifetime! It took 2 days of travel to get to the resort but it was TOTALLY worth it.
We stayed in an over-water villa and it was literally like we were above an aquarium. We saw nurse sharks, black tip sharks, rays, and lots of fish right from our deck. We enjoyed our infinity pool for cooling off but mostly enjoyed heading right into the ocean straight from our deck.
We snorkeled and/or SCUBA dove every day. The coral, fish, turtles, sharks, rays, and octopus on the house reef were incredible. We went on a dolphin cruise that was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Thank you so much to Alina, Agus and the hard-working and friendly boat crew for the amazing SCUBA trips.
Rooms were clean, modern, well-appointed and gorgeous. Climate control and internet were great. The indoor & outdoor showers were much appreciated.
Food was the best we've ever had at a resort. The variety, quality, and care put into the food was second to none. We still don't understand how there was so much variety given remote this place is. They do have a garden on-site. There was a different cuisine theme every night at Alita (the main restaurant). Kudos to head chef Roberto. We also can't say enough about the amazing pastry chef Anuruuda who you would often see arranging displays and helping you find a spoon for his creations if you forgot to take one! His peanut butter cake was to die for and I loved the coconut pancakes.
The staff were incredible. Smith always took great care of us at Alita. The Italian restaurant was also incredible - especially the risotto. The aranchini and pizza were also great. Okay - everything was great!
Massage by Darma was incredible.
Wish there was more information provided/communication from the front desk staff re: flights - but this may be related to the airlines and general procedures that they are accustomed to (and we were less comfortable with but had to just trust it would all work out... and it did).
Have told many people about this amazing place- wish we could get there more easily and go back every year!
