As above it was not our first time to the Haven Khao Lak. The service was excellent as before actually both better and worse. We were deeply appreciated for returning though the expectations were we remembered everything. The menu had changed and some of our favorite Thai dishes were no longer available. As it is secluded, a bonus, it is time consuming to get to other places to see. If you are a beach lover, don't leave. We like to see cultural things and visit Thai people. We visited during high season and paid the highest nightly surcharge. We opted to stay less than a week and paid less for the surcharges and applied this money saved toward another place on Phuket. We would NOT do this for a first time visit. Even doing this our total charges for 5 nights was around $1100. USD. An excellent value.

The reason we wouldn't return is we've been twice. Too much to see in Thailand. Highly recommend a private driver to show local attractions. Otherwise, rent a car in Phuket, if you are comfortable driving on opposite side of the road. Driving in Phang Nga is relaxed compared to even Chiang Mai or Phuket.

My teenage granddaughter and I enjoyed our stay. Staff is very friendly and personable. I arranged the airport pickup with the hotel and they waiting our arrival and transported us to the hotel. The staff was very welcoming and the check-in process was a breeze.
Rooms are spacious and have everything you need. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet.

Dream, Loosen, Alicia and the breakfast servers provided excellent service. However a better experience would've been if the servers bring you your tea or coffee to the table. By the time you gather evening you need to eat, your food is cold. Having your beverages served tablets would cut down on the walking so you can enjoy your food while it's hot. They also had a great variety of food on the buffet.

A very nice place on the beach, staff is excellent, they’ll go out of their way to accommodate guests. Hotel is comfortable. Please note, this hotel is over an hour from Phuket town, something to keep in mind if you want to be closer to town.

The Haven Khao Lak is a great place to get away from it all. Beware there are MANY stairs to navigate the property. The property obviously caters to the senior crowd.. It's also a great location for many of the tours outside of Khao Lak!

The facilties were amazing. The property is steps away from the beach. The setting is very relaxing and inviting. The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the pool. The massage was very soothing and calming. The drink menu was extensive. The food menu was also quite impressive. I wish there was a standard operating guest welcome informational schpiel. There were some things I thought might be worth a mention that weren't relayed or portrayed. It's almost like the staff assumed you were a mystic. Nothing hi-tech, things like the time the pool closes, the hours of the restaurant, the bus schedule, the fact reservations are recommended for dinner, the time room service begins and ends, the water sports availability, local attraction suggestions, to name a few. The staff was over the top, very friendly and attentive. Shout out to Soy at the breakfast buffet. There are a few others who made the extra effort to ensure my stay was a pleasant one. The names on the name tags are incredibly small. Oh, and the a/c in the room was a little lacking. It never quite got cool.

The seevice and amneities are superior especially the free breakfast buffet. THE STAFF are fast to assist the guests especially LJ. The only downside is the location as it is too secluded. Although they provide free shuttle to to the downtown, it is only good for two hours. There are also packages provided for the guests like island hopping and sightseeing for the guests to have daily activities but come with a hefty price, otherwise, the only thing you can do at the hotel is swim which and sunbathe. The pool is more than huge and beuatiful. The rooms are suoer clean and smells really good. Overall, a very good experience for a shorter stay or prepare some good amount of money to spend daily on activities especially if you are coming as a family.

The staff are very friendly and not trying to push anything on us like tours or extra amenities. It is remote which I like since we are over an hours drive from the airport. Cabs are very accessible which is needed when we wanted to leave the resort since we are remote.

The room is absolutely beautiful. The coffee and our tea provided is lovely. The five different orchids all about and around the room and bathroom are just lovely. We took them and put them in a small container with water to be with us for the whole week the people are beautiful and it’s quite a nice selection breakfast buffet. I did think that we had one dinner coming to us for the week. Maybe I had made an error. We will enjoy our massages and we will enjoy our complementary cocktails, and I would say having our own vehicle automobile here is an added bonus as we drove all the way from Pattaya.

The hotel was very nice - great location on the beach, lovely wrap-around pool, nice amenities and plenty of activities. Only suggestion - needs more than one restaurant. They do have a swim-up bar with some food options, but the day I wanted to buy something from the menu, they had closed early. The menu at main restaurant was varied, but still need more restaurants for such a large hotel. Also, a bit pricey for the quantity of food received at Vongole. Now, in contrast, the breakfast buffet was delightful. Staff was especially friendly and helpful, especially those handling the activities and at the lobby/reception desk.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at The Haven. The property is beautiful, rooms are nice and big, large meandering swimming pool with the ocean right there. We enjoyed the daily breakfast choices. Most of all the staff was very friendly. We plan on going back.

We love the pools, the beach and the restaurant. The Oceanfront villa is nice, but with many unpractical defects (ex. lack of privacy, the AC blows directly over the bed..). we wanted to take a day trip to the Khao Sok Ntl Park arranged by the resort. We communicated with them in advance for 6months, and pointed out that there is a risk there would not be places if we had to book the trip on site after arrival. The resort kept telling us that all trips they arrange can be booked only on site. When we arrived and tried to book the trip it turned there were no places... The food and the drinks are pretty good.

We went during high season so we had to find a time that our voucher was available. This was NOT difficult. The facilities are wonderful, some of the best we have stayed in. The pictures are not retouched. We did not upgrade the room. an option provided when reservation was made. Unless you need to have a pool outside your doorstep I don't think an upgrade is warranted. From what we could see the intermediate room type is on a middle floor like the basic room no direct pool access. As mentioned, one of the best places we've stayed including two different Travelzoo Maldives overwater villas. Our bed was larger than a king. I estimate 8 feet; I stretched my arms out and extended my toes it was this wide. The main pool is enormous. Beach is just beyond. Absolutely stunning sunsets. The reflection at dinner is amazing in the pool, can you say golden hour? Get a table by the pool to experience this at least once. Stick to the Thai menu choices. Breakfast is varied and very good, you can eat near a koi pond! If you stay over a Friday night the Thai buffet gives you the opportunity to try many different dishes. It is a little secluded. It is not easy to get to and from the city of Khao Lak. We utilized the property arranged transport to and from the airport. On the ride to the Haven we commissioned the driver for two separate days through his company. He provided wonderful service. Seven nights is a long time to spend in one location if we had not availed ourselves of a tour arranged by the Haven as well as the two day trips we would have been bored. It's okay you are staying on a beautiful beach. The tour we took was to Similan Islands, inexpensive version of the Seychelles. Good tour operator. The included massages were wonderful.

If we booked The Haven again we would stay for less time and travel to see other spots. The horror stories about Thai driving I think are unfounded. If you are comfortable driving on the left-hand side of the road, consider renting a car in Phuket. Although this would not provide local knowledge, and you would explore based on your own research.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Relatively easy to book with the voucher despite time and language differences. The pre-arranged shuttle to the resort was waiting on our arrival at the airport. The resort is about an hour and a half from the Phuket airport. The staff was waiting at the resort with welcoming drinks for our group. Check in was smooth. The resort was as fabulous as the photos on their website make it seem. Despite having only one restaurant, the wide variety on the menu did not make it seem limiting. The breakfast buffet each morning was excellent. All-in-all, a great experience and I would highly recommend the resort.

The only negative comment I would have is that the electrical situation in the rooms is somewhat dated. There are no USB charging ports in the rooms and the outlets did not hold our travel adaptors very well. A small quibble in what was overall, a great experience.
