About the Destination
To reach the resort, travelers will fly into Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR). From there, it's about a 45-minute drive to the resort. Airport transfers can be arranged through the hotel at an additional cost.

Very nice resort; good layout; alot of pools along with the must have adults only pool; large hotel room with comfortable terrace.
Fortunately, hotel not very busy so plenty of space around the pools and beach. And the mid January weather was perfect. Did take at least 45 mins to get to the hotel from the airport and of course, transportation is expensive.

Food choices, with the exception of Codex, which was excellent, the food was sub par. It looked pretty but was very mediocre. The price gouging was ridiculous. They charge 60 usd round trip to town. We figured out uber here is reliable and safe. The same trip to town was literally less than 10 usd. Round trip.
Prices throughout the resort were inconsistent. The same brand of a glass of wine in one restaurant was 6 bucks. It was 17 bucks at a different restaurant in the resort.
Very family friendly, lots of kids. I would prefer a more adult atmosphere.
The resort us pretty isolated so book things to do outside the resort. We booked surfing lessons for 50 bucks for 2 hrs in Salulita near by. Through the resort, those lessons were 600 usd. Seriously?
Beach is just ok. There are much more appealing beaches in close proximity with prettier water and better sand, with prices much much lower.
The place is huge. If you like a more intimate property this one is not for you. Great for families, but for adults, ehh.

Beach and restaurant service is excellent - Leonardo is fantastic. We were worried about it feeling crowded with a wedding, but that was never a problem. The front desk (Brenda) did offer a service recovery when we had a few issues, which we were satisfied with. Well maintained property, big swimmable beach and well sized rooms. Food is good quality and flavors. Prices on-site are high, but that's the case at every nice resort - nothing outrageous and the Travelzoo price made this expense a non-concern. We're not partiers, but we are night owls, and having an option to hangout at a bar or restaurant on-property for drinks a little later than 11pm would be so nice; otherwise you have to go to Sayulita. We hope to return.

The waiters were great and Laura Gutierrez, who I initially booked the room from a few months ago was awesome. I think that's why we got such a decent deal on travel zoo because they know our stay there would cost us another thousand dollars which it did.

Well, bottom line, once you get to the resort, they pretty much know they have you locked in. All cocktails were a minimum of 17 to 20 American dollars. Our first day at the pool we had four drinks we needed to order two more shots of tequila because the margaritas were so weak and our bill was $107. No joke. We stuck with beers the last two days the food was prepared well that you're also spending 40+ dollars for an entrée in Mexico, which I thought was very steep. I would not recommend this experience to anybody else solely based on the fact that like I said They know you're stuck there and so they charge through the wazoo. Our shuttle ride from the airport was $200 and then people were telling us we could've got an Uber for 50 bucks. We also needed a shuttle to Sayulita when we left and that was $100 through the hotel we could have gone to Sayulita for $15. Overall, not a great experience and would definitely not return to this specific resort. Needless to say a lot of people that we talk to at the resort or in the pool all have the same feelings.

The hotel treated us like actual royalty - I have been coming to Mexico since I was a child and can't believe the service and incredible food at this hotel. While it is expensive for food and drinks, everything was incredible. Can't wait to spend two more nights here.
