Enjoyed Most
We spent five nights and six days at the resort from November 17th to the 22nd. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Dia and the Fushifaru staff, making it feel like a cinematic experience. However, the weather was rainy, which was beyond our control. Despite this, we made the most of it.
We booked the Water Bungalows with a Jacuzzi and a view of the water, which you can climb down and snorkel in your area. The Water Bungalow we stayed at is cleaned, fully stocked, and well-equipped. Bathroom consisted of a separate shower and toilet. Open window bathtub facing the sea and “his and hers” sinks. Bed was spacious and equipped with multi-international plug types for all countries and USB ports. Housekeeping visits regularly for cleaning and making the bed 2-3 times a day. There is a minibar which is well-equipped with snacks, drinks, and a refrigerator filled with cool drinks. 2 large bottles of water are refilled constantly. We did order room service during our stay, and they utilize the app to order food. Options are slightly pricy but well worth the cost.
Food options on the island range from Maldivian local favorites, Indian cuisine, themed nights such as Italian and chef favorites. The main location is usually a buffet, with some options that are made to order. Staff and service are friendly and also remember what your favorite drink is. The buffet is open throughout the day and night and closed for short periods to switch out menus. We also enjoyed the Fanihandhi bar’s pool and tried out the drink menu at the bars, which was incredibly delicious and offered a wide variety of drinks and snacks. We had opted for the all-inclusive package, which still had a great selection of island favorites. For a more high-class style, they do have teppanyaki at the Raakani Grill, and if that’s not your style, a more relaxed set with many options is available.
Events for our stay, which we booked, included snorkeling with sea turtles, a cooking class, a complementary massage, kayaking, a Dhoni sunset sail, and a local tour. This was our first time snorkeling, and we weren’t prepared for swimming in the sea while it was rough, which resulted in seasickness for most of the tour. However, we managed to see two sea turtles, which was an incredible experience. I had never imagined witnessing such majestic underwater life. Our tour guide was incredibly helpful in showing us where the sea turtles are and is a guaranteed must-do while visiting the Maldives. We had planned a sunset sail on the second day, but unfortunately, due to bad weather, it was cancelled. However, our island contact , Dia, was able to keep an eye out for good weather and was able to rebook us when it was clear. During the rainy days, we had more time to explore the island and practice snorkeling in our water bungalow. For our cooking class, we chose the Maldivian selection. Arif, our cchef, was amazing and was very welcoming. It’s great to learn the culture through the food and spices through their cooking. The island offers water sport activities while on the iisland, such as kkayakingand jjetskis, perfect when you just want to enjoy the island activities. Lastly, we did try to book the local tour on a nearby island; however, the tour does require a minimum of 4 peopleto visit. On slower seasons in November, it is not guaranteed as not all guests are willing to participate.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay at Fushifaru. This is HIGHLY recommended if you enjoy beach life, great food and the sand between your toes. This is by far the best relaxing destination to visit, the views are truly majestic.
____ STAFF SHOUTOUTS___
During our stay at Fushifaru, Dia was our primary point of contact and the first person we encountered. Her friendly and accommodating nature made her an exceptional hostess. She consistently prioritized our needs and ensured that our stay was seamless. We communicated with Dia via WhatsApp, and she remained responsive and available throughout our stay. Even after our return to the United States, she reached out to check on us. During our stay, Dia would frequently visit the buffet area, engaging in conversations with guests. Undoubtedly, our experience with Dia was exceptional. Her personal touch and genuine care made it feel like she truly valued our presence. She remembered our interactions, including our bout of sea sickness during snorkeling with sea turtles, which resulted in an all-night stay. Dia’s kindness extended beyond our stay. She offered to deliver breakfast to our hotel room, which was a thoughtful gesture. Notably, when our sunset sail was canceled due to inclement weather, Dia diligently monitored the forecast and made arrangements to reschedule it on our last day. This unexpected turn of events added an unforgettable element to our magical stay at Fushifaru.
Alam, who cleaned and managed our room. Thank you for refilling the water and snacks, as well as adding bubbles and petals to our Jaqcuzzi which was a pleasant surprise. Super friendly when we bumped into him on the way to our excursions. He even managed to organize our room 3 times in 1 day, which most places in other resorts won’t do.
Shazmyn, was our waiter serving us breakfast and dinner. He noticed that we hadn’t had dinner because we were feeling unwell, due to us being sea sick. His attention to detail is truly remarkable. He also remembered our preference for iced coffee, considering that we were unfamiliar with the weather. Every morning, he prepares it for us without even asking, ensuring our comfort and convenience. Shazmyn’s friendly demeanor is evident in his warm greetings, which always start with a fist bump.
Jalal was a friendly and approachable individual stationed at the food counter. His perpetual smile and positive demeanor made him an enjoyable person to engage in conversation with.
Mikael and Laxmi, our room service delivery heroes, braved the rain to bring us our food on the day we were seasick. They even went above and beyond by prepping and cleaning up after us. The food was absolutely delicious. Laxmi, with her warm smile, even brought our anniversary chocolate in the rain. Throughout our stay at the island, she was always so friendly whenever we crossed paths.
Hassan, our server at the restaurant, made our dining experience truly memorable. We had a reservation for dinner and also served at our cooking class. Hassan’s friendly and attentive service ensured that we had a warm and enjoyable time. The food was exceptional, and the service was impeccable. We highly recommend the set menu, as the choices are top-tier.
Arif was our chef that thought us how to cook Maaldivian food. Friendly and we also learned a few words from him.
Sulis and Vere were our spa therapists, and they were incredibly courteous and wonderful. They had a great understanding of where to focus during the massage, targeting the areas that are most commonly used for shoulder and back pain. It was by far the most relaxing massage I’ve ever had.
Niu Sher was our photographer, and she was incredibly skilled. As someone who works with clients for photography and video, I’m quite particular about photographers. New Sher delivered the highest quality of work. Her photography was clean and beautifully edited, and she had a great eye for posing and angles. She gave us clear and concise instructions, and we felt comfortable and at ease working with her. Initially, we had a cancellation at the sandbar, but the locations she suggested on the island told a beautiful story. We ended up cherishing these photos because we loved every moment of it.
Thank you to all the staff, our experience wouldn’t be complete without the team warmth and smiles. I’m glad to have met and interacted with everyone during our stay.
Not only was the location and scenery amazing but also the amazing staff and their dedication to making this an amazing experience. A true resort isn’t by the standards of its views and quality but the staff is what gives and makes it a personal experience and the staff was wonderful.
