This hotel recently won an award for best hotel in the county and was featured on the Today show the morning of our visit. We stayed mid-week and the hotel did not seem to be at capacity. Overall, I think our expectations were higher, given the rates they charge and the prestigious award they received. I’ll start with the positives: The woman who welcomed us was lovely. The “bite” (literally) and welcome “taste” of wine (literally) were a nice touch. We were able to check-in early, which was appreciated. The beds were comfy! The pools were relaxing and seating was plentiful. Pool service was consistent, too. Unexpected issues: 1. We received a bottle of wine with this voucher. It was a Chardonnay, and we asked if we could have a bottle of any red wine instead. I wouldn’t have batted an eye at their refusal if it hadn’t just been named BEST HOTEL IN THE COUNTRY. We were told that “this was the only option available at the moment.” In wine country. Okay… 2. An envelope was left for a guest with a different name in our room. Seems like an honest mistake.. 3. Our ice bucket hadn’t been cleaned and had standing water in it. It started to make us wonder about the cleaning.. 4. We saw a big cockroach by our door upon returning from the restaurant. But it’s built in the countryside so.. 5. They extended our check-out by an hour (awesome!) but didn’t communicate with the cleaning staff so we were interrupted with our DND sign on the door. These minor details are adding up.. 6. Finally, the icing on the cake: I had one leftover box of steak from dinner at their restaurant the night before. When checking out, I asked if they could keep it cold in a refrigerator until we left. The staff hesitated and said they didn’t have anything to offer before awkwardly pointing to a wine fridge they could possibly stuff it into. In the end, they accepted the box, but the whole interaction was uncomfortable, and definitely unexpected considering the nightly rate. And that’s what all is this comes down to. The property was beautiful and I am not a regular patron of five star hotels, but considering the regular rate they charge and the award they just won, I expected better.

Overall, great experience. There was an issue with the bill & Travel Zoo credit. Unfortunately, they allowed dogs and small children in the adult pool, which took away from the experience. I did bring this to management’s attention and was told that they do not enforce an adult only atmosphere if children are accompanied by parents. This was very disappointing and greatly affected our experience.
Other Comments
They do not maintain an ‘adult only’ environment at the serenity pool. Hugely disappointing if you’re looking for a quiet environment while enjoying a high-end boutique hotel. They have a family pool yet so not enforce a child (or pet) free experience at the Adult pool.

Beautiful resort. Excellent value particularly for the Wine Country. Awesome extras from Travelzoo!
Other Comments
Really really excellent property and friendly staff. The only BIG downside is there is no real outdoor (pool) food service on weekdays. They only had two sandwiches which were BAD for the price of $30 for one bad sandwich and a diet coke.

Lovely hotel. Charlie Palmer restaurant was excellent and we did the “Supper” which is a limited menu offered on Monday andTuesday nights, which was very reasonably priced. They provided a complimentary glass of champagne as it was our anniversary and my birthday. Charlie was there and came by our table. Great hospitality. Pools are great and lots of umbrellas which i always appreciate.

This Hotel is fabulous, set in what feels like a rural setting, with “ urban” villages just minutes away. The staff and their hospitality were above and beyond. The pools were very pleasant with comfortable lounges, fluffy towels, carafes of water. The restaurants were beautiful with the outdoor seating, landscaping and comfortable furniture. One downside: we had 3 meals at the hotel and we were perplexed with the quality of the food, in the sense of over-cooking most every dish we had. Charles Palmer was on-site and greeted us, but we’re pretty sure he wasn’t the Chef for our meals!

From the moment we pulled up, we knew we were in for a treat. The friendliest staff made us feel welcome before we even got inside. It is a beautiful property and we loved our room. The most comfortable bed too. Had the three course dinner at onsite restaurant, Folia, and was surprised by the large portion sizes. The dessert (lemon meringue tart) was the best! Well, that and the poppy seed bread. The outdoor areas have plentiful seating with several firepit heaters...it is just charming. Go and check it out for yourself ... see if the TravelZoo deal is still available too.
