Another great visit & stay in Portland at the Hilton Garden Inn. Travelzoo has some amazing packages with this hotel. If you are fortunate enough to find one, go for it. The staff is friendly, rooms comfortable, great cookies in the evening and a delicious breakfast. Maggie at valet was great and Erica at the front desk was a pleasure. The servers at the restaurant are as friendly as can be and housekeeping we met in the hallway were great as well. This is a top-notch Hilton Garden Inn. The location is fabulous, right across from the water and within walking distance to shops, restaurants and museums. Highly recommended.

Went to a show at the Merrill which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and minutes from a bunch of great restaurants. The bar in the hotel was very nice and I heard the breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. The rooms are clean and quiet. Noon time check out is a plus.

The Hilton Garden Inn Portland Downtown Waterfront was the absolute best hotel I have ever stayed in! The staff was incredible, the included cook to order breakfast was excellent, and the little added details were wonderful. Crabtree and Evelyn soaps and lotions, a lighted make-up mirror in the bathroom, complimentary hot cider, hot coffee, tea, and chocolate stations in the lobby accompanied with delicious chocolate cookies. The valet parking was so easy and convenient and never a long wait! I would rate this hotel a 12 out if 10!

When I called the hotel to confirm our reservation I mentioned that we would be a group of ladies celebrating birthdays. The staff made sure our rooms were opposite each other and placed goody bags with handwritten birthday cards in each room. They really went above and beyond!

Wonderful 2 night stay in the Old Port.....walking distance to everything and spacious room overlooking Casco Bay. They made our puppy feel welcome with a welcome bag and dog treats at the counter! Breakfast staff was lovely.

The staff was lovely welcoming our puppy but we were disappointed to find the pet relief area was the same place employees threw their cigarette butts. This was not only unsightly but also dangerous for our puppy who could ingest them. I brought this comment to one staff member's attention during our stay who seemed uninterested in this.

We really disliked their 4:00 check-in (although they finally did find a room at 3:30 for us, so thanks). If you have breakfast there do not drink the coffee—it’s terrible!

This is our 1st time booking a hotel with TZ & it was super easy & the rate was better than anything else I could find, even on the Hilton website as a member. I highly recommend Travelzoo & this hotel which was closest to the action of all the hotels i researched, room was clean & xtra spacious, the staff were friendly, the breakfast is ordered off a menu which surprised me as I thought it would be a buffet. It was tasty & substantial nonetheless. We didn’t use the fitness center or pool. It was a great experience.

All the staff was very nice and helpful. At 90 years old, I needed things explained a little more clearly and they were wonderful. Ran into some issues on my end that Travelzoo (Ellen) was so kind to fix along with Maggie at the hotel. Will never forget how kind they both were to us.

This was another great TravelZoo experience. The benefits of the specials you arrange are worth way more than the recent membership fee. A single use of the free valet parking and included full breakfast more than pays for membership. I especially love not having to pay the hated "resort fee"! We were able to share this offer with friends from D.C. with no problem at all, and was able to speak with an English-speaking TravelZoo customer service person when I couldn't figure out how to book the second room. My friends were equally impressed with the room, the valet parking, and the full breakfast, and the absence of the resort fee.

The hotel is perhaps somewhat older. They are in the process of exterior renovations which did not have any effect on our stay but the lift in front of the hotel facade was located directly in front of our room. Not a big deal, especially since for some reason we were given a water view room with a sofa that was a great place to sit and read. Our friends had a view of Standard Baking which made us wish for a zipline from the room to the bakery. It's a great location, near everything. Loved the large and comfortably furnished common area where we could sit and visit with our friends sharing vacation photos. The Guest Services Manager Maggie Poisson was very helpful in resolving a few minor issues. (We spent the previous two days before checking into the HGI at the Portland Regency, where they have taken over the very nice common area for afternoon tea, a Mother's Day brunch, etc., so there is no place where we could sit and visit except in our room. This seems to be a change from the last time we stayed there.)

It's a little annoying to have to valet the car--especially if you're traveling with small kids and need to grab something out of the car like we did. The rooms could use a little updating--there was some dripping/popping sound in the walls of our room and some of the wallpaper was peeling a bit.

The only hitch was when I received the e-mail for early check-in and room selection. Despite being a Hiltons Honors member, the link for early check-in and room selection did not show my stay, all my other previous and pending Hilton stays were displayed. So, Hilton knew I had a stay booked, as they sent me an check-in e-mail, but that stay was not in my record, so I couldn't complete the early check-in and room selectionk

The breakfast was excellent as well. The hotel is walking distance to everything. Never had to use our car. Will definitely stay again.

This is the second time staying at this hotel with a Travelzoo deal and we loved it once again! The location of this hotel is perfect, and the TZ perks included (parking, breakfast for 2, pantry credit) are very much appreciated and make the entire stay extra pleasant. The room for 2 adults and one teenager was spacious--we particularly enjoyed the seating area with extra space for lounging. We had some trouble figuring out the temperature controls, and the shower was a bit dated (flimsy curtain, drain took a while to empty, the hot water fluctuated as other rooms used their plumbing), but I understand the hotel is undergoing renovations, so we look forward to seeing fresh updates in the future. The lobby and first floor public spaces are so nice, especially the enclosed fireplace and comfy chairs.

Everything was great. Our only complaints were very low shower pressure and our room was overlooking a large dumpster the entire stay. It would’ve been great to have a view of practically anything else besides valet or garbage.

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas for 3 nights. The hotel was festively decorated and the staff and guests often shared holiday greetings and dressed up in Christmas attire! The location is great with many shops and restaurants nearby. We loved Ri Ra across the street and had breakfasts and 2 dinners in the hotel dining room - very friendly and efficient service and very tasty and delicious food. The special ham dinner on Christmas Day was especially good!! It was very cold so we hope to go again in warmer weather!!

This was our second Travelzoo stay. From valets to desk staff everyone was nice. We found they'd added local merchant items in the Pantry. Breakfast was excellent. The Travelzoo price with breakfast and parking was phenomenal. Room was comfortable. Location is great if you want to be in Old Port - our big window had a water view, which also meant a downtown shoppers and lit up boats view.

This is truly one of the better Travelzoo deals. Portland hotels are pricey and this was a good rate but it's the perks that make it. You can't park anywhere in Portland for free except if have a deal like here. And the free breakfast is not a grab and go, It's a nice sit down meal with house-made hash and a cook who knows what he's doing.

Went in November, so off season and not overly crowded. We were able to visit Portland Light, the Art Museum and had some wonderful meals in their local restaurants. In Portland we walked to all our destinations.
We did travel by car to the outlets in Freeport (20 min drive) and then to Boothbay Harbor to take in the Gardens Alow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (1h 15 min). The gardens were the main reason for our visit.

The TravelZoon benefits included breakfas, free valet parking and a $10 credit int he hotel shop each day. This was a great value.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. A great staff.

Location is great, breakfast was great. Everything was good, but for the barking dog, left unattended which is against hotel policy.

On our last night, the guests in the adjacent room, left their dog unattended. As a result, the dog barked continuously for 4 hours, until we were finally able to fall asleep. Meanwhile, my husband went to the front desk twice, to try and have the situation resolved. Apparently, the hotel attempted to reach the dog owners. The dog owners clearly were not reached or did not come back to take care of their abandoned dog.

We had a wonderful trip. The hotel was really accommodation. We appreciated the Travelzoo added perks of free valet parking and free breakfast- which was delicious! It wasn’t a buffet but made to order meals! There was also a voucher for free snacks from the hotel’s pantry store. The hotel price was way less expensive that other hotels in the area. I’d definitely book this one again!

The hotel was perfectly located in the heart of the waterfront. It was within walking distance of many good restaurants and shops. Parking was included in the rate and getting our car was no problem whenever we wanted to use it. We went off-season so that helped.

We booked this hotel for a long weekend in the early off season. We enjoyed ditching the car and walking to the attractions of the Old Port. Many excellent restaurant and brew pub options are within a 5 minute stroll. Paid a little extra to have a view of Casco Bay from the 6th floor and it was worth it!
