La Casa del Zorro Resort & Spa is a blissful hideaway set on 42 acres of land within the charming desert town of Borrego Springs. Travel + Leisure calls the town, which sits less than two hours east of San Diego, one of "America's Coolest Desert Towns" and the "only community in America surrounded on all sides by state park land."
It's also part of an International Dark Sky Community devoted to reducing light pollution, so breathtaking stargazing is the norm. Guests can borrow a telescope (for a small fee) from the front desk to check out the starry skies. The vibe at the resort is mellow and peaceful, drawing on the natural habitat with a cactus garden and fire pit. Guests can relax at the spa or five outdoor pools, play tennis on one of five courts, hike on nearby trails or take a yoga class in the dedicated yoga studio.
Guest rooms feature high ceilings, wood shutters and poolside or pool-view balconies. Upgraded casitas have a living room and a service bar, and some have a fireplace, private pool or hot tub in their backyard, making them perfect for families or friends traveling together.
