The Travelzoo deal prompted us to stay at the Hilton Whistler for the first time. We were in the South Wing room 158. Convenient to the lobby, exits and parking elevator. Room had a King bed and kitchen area with fridge, dishwasher, sink, and everything we needed. We had our golden retriever with us and the only additional cost we encountered was the $25 per night “dog fee”. The Travelzoo deal included the self-parking and the resort fee.

Our first night was great. We were excited to spend the next day at the pool and have dinner at the Cinnebear restaurant, we received 20% our bill when we booked with Travelzoo. We were leaving the pool and we were told that the pool would be closed from 3pm onward the following day for a pool party. We could go across the street to the Westin. We arrived at the Westin. No on was there to let us in to the pool. We had to wait for someone to leave the pool top open the door. Around 2:30 we walked back to The Hilton to have lunch at the Cinnebear restaurant. We were told it was closing for the private party and wouldn’t open again until tomorrow. We were able to order food to take out and eat in our room. The private arty happened right outside our room, complete with a live band for the 400 plus people. Another hotel guest asked the front desk when the party would end and was told ten pm. The band plays until 10:30, it sounded like a concert inside our room. We did like the hotel but were not impressed with being unable to use the pool or restaurant and having the party right beside our room.

Service was slow at the pool. The kitchen sent out our pizza which was completely burnt. After we complained, they agreed it should not have been sent out (but it would have gone through at least 3 staff members and no one thought twice about sending it out). Also, when we left the following morning, the parking lot was so crammed with cars parked in the driving lanes, it was difficult to drive out and nearly caused a few close calls between vehicles.
