I love this hotel. Stayed here many times. The bathrooms are tiny but it’s an older building so that’s to be expected. There is always room at the desk for makeup and hair. The hotel is a little on the outskirts of the downtown area but you can’t beat the value.

Spent 2 nights while visiting our son in Charleston. Hotel is in a great location in downtown Charleston within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The buffet breakfast included with our package was amazing. Room was very nice although bathrooms are small. Used the valet parking which made going in and out much easier. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

From the moment we arrived to our departure, our stay was a wonderful break for us. The staff was warm and welcoming, the entire hotel spotless, the hotel restaurant served delicious food, the bar was cozy, and the nightly piano player Tom was the "cherry on top" of days of shopping and touring Charleston.

While the lobby was beautiful and the staff very friendly and helpful the room was not very accommodating. Beds were ok but the bathroom was atrocious , it was very tiny. You could barely turn around in it and there was no counter space for anything. Old fixtures and old tile were not very appealing.

Complimentary bottle of wine & truffles in addition to the included breakfast buffet, the spacious room made it even more special. The on site restaurant, The Swamp Fox, was very good as well. We were there during restaurant week and got a great deal on a 3 course dinner. We were within walking distance of the City Market as well as shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend the Francis Marion!

Wonderful stay for 2 nights. Beautiful hotel on Marion Square close to King St and College of Charleston with lots of shopping and dining options. Loved the cookies and champagne/cheese and crackers provided in the evenings. The breakfast buffets that were included with the deal were superb. High quality food and service.

My sisters and I went to Charleston for a visit. The hotel was lovely, staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was wonderful! Karin, the concierge was very friendly and helpful, as well as Silvia in the restaurant. We used the valet parking and that was so convenient. It was a great visit!

Hotel is older and could certainly use a fresh coat of paint. Looking past that, great lobby ambiance for Charleston. Room was great size but had 2 double beds (not queens). Bathroom is tiny - especially for a family traveling. Has all the amenities and more of a 5-star hotel. Onsite concierge is awesome plus complimentary coffee in the morning, cookies in the afternoon and champagne at happy hour! Not to mention Starbucks is in the hotel for extra convenience!

The hotel is in a great location. The beds were comfortable and the AC was nice and cold on a very hot day. The front desk staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. We weren't given our breakfast vouchers or bottle of wine and truffles after asking multiple times and being told it would be sent to the room. We finally after 3x going to front desk got breakfast vouchers and they ended up giving us a credit for the bottle of wine and truffles, which we were fine with, but shouldn't have had to track them down for the amenities

Wonderful experience. As you enter the lobby you are awash with the style and grace of a hotel that was built in 1924! Its been restored to like new condition. The piano player in the lobby is also a reminder that the early1920's were certainly the best of times in america!

We were very happy with our stay at the Fancis Marion. The reception desk staff were wonderful. The servers in the Swamp Fox restaurant (Dorothy and Christina were terrific, as was each morning's breakfast). The only negative was our room location, which was directly above a machine area (heating and cooling) and those motors were running 24/7.

We used travel zoo to book a room for 2 nights. It was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location to walk everywhere. The FM.hoyel.is in a terrific location I. The center of historic Charleston. This is the second time I have brought bicycles in the month of January. Its a great time to go before lots of traffic descend on the city making biking difficult. Also January is the month the Visitors Center sells discounted tickets to see about a dozen old homes and museums for just $35. When each museum is typically $15-$20 this is fantastic savings. Parking is expensive in Charleston so using bikes is also a cost savings. We parked our car the day we arrived and didn't move it until we exited the city three days later.
