Amazing experience 5 star resort

The Travelzoo offer provides a very good valve for a stay at this property. Without the offer, I would only rate the value as fair. The property is beautiful with most rooms adjacent to the large pond. The rooms are spacious but they are a little worn around the edges...but nothing to be concerned about. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent as the weather a few miles inland is much warmer and sunnier than right along the coast. The location also makes excursions very convenient such as the 17 Mile Drive, Big Sur and Carmel.

It was a real treat , the lodge is on a golf course which was very serene and peaceful! Staff was very kind and attentive as well. We had breakfast and evening drinks and both were scrumptious ! We can’t wait to go back !

Thoroughly enjoyed this property

Rain kept us from enjoying many of their amenities but we would go back at a different time of year. The bullfrogs are extremely loud so don't get a room by the water.

It's incredible. 9 hole putt putt, beautiful grounds, big quiet luxurious room. Wine happy hour. Great Super Bowl event at Edgar's with great food, cocktails and prizes. Great breakfast at Covies.

We love staying here! This was our 3rd time and always enjoy being here. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, great service all away around. The grounds and rooms are meticulously kept. Aaron, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure everything was just perfect! Definitely make The Quail Lodge a destination soon!

Great location! Great amenities!

Only issue was that we forgot that we had a $50 breakfast credit each day. We chose to get coffee elsewhere since a cup of coffee was $9.00. I know it was our fault that we didn't remember, but a reminder would have been great!

Everything EXCEPT being charged the complete WRONG amount!

They gave me a receipt for $515, but now I see 3 charges on my credit card from Quail for $686.56, $165.75 and $50.00 and I cant seem to reach anyone at the resort to sort it out. Can you help me?

A very nice stay at the Quail Lodge.

From check-in to check-out, we had a wonderful experience. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. There is so much to do on the premise. We played the 9 hole putting course a couple times, played pickleball, enjoyed the wine hour, used the fitness rooms, ate delicious breakfasts in the restaurant, and watched football in the lounge. We didn’t golf or ride the e-bikes, maybe next time!

Fantastic peaceful location to nearby wineries, restaurants, hiking trails, and beautiful nurseries.

Their computer system was switching over the day we were there so still awaiting the final bill, but assuming all goes well with that it was a good experience. The hotel is very nice and clean. Staff were friendly. I enjoyed the amenities (coffee, fire pits, bathtub, comfortable bed, etc.). I would have liked to stay longer to try more things there; one night is not enough.

At quail lodge we had a good family weekend . Relaxed & peaceful!

Our stay was wonderful. The weather was exceptional, the ambiance of property was great and the complimentary s’mores every night was quite decadent! We definitely will return.

This was a 3-night getaway for my wife's birthday; the hotel was close to all the things we wanted to do. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. Thanks to the Travelzoo daily breakfast credits, we had a delicious breakfast each morning at the hotel restaurant. I'm not a wine drinker or golfer, but my wife really enjoyed the included daily wine hour in the lobby and 9-hole putting course on the property. The room was nice and included all the extras we expected (fridge, safe, spacious bathroom) and a few we didn't (balcony and fireplace). We spent a lot of time away from the resort and unfortunately didn't get to take advantage of the included e-bike rentals; we did enjoy the free smores kits at one of the many fire pits. The grounds were attractive and well cared for.

The invoice I picked up on our way out had an error in the breakfast credits which I didn't notice until later; they appear to have caught it and charged the correct amount before I was able to call about it.

Romantic trip

Hotel is a bit dated, some parts have been renovated but rooms feel old. Comfortable beds and beautiful property, great if you’re not trying to be downtown. Price feels high given location and room etc.

We had a good stay at The Quail. Our room was dated, and didn’t have a view like we expected based on the package we booked. But the staff was friendly, the food was decent, and the tennis and pickleball court access was a plus. It was a pleasant three day escape for us.

Overall pleasant environment and staff. Because of weather, we couldn't use the outdoor lodge's amenities. The wine hour was nicely done.

Both Covey's and Edgars are good places to eat.

Wonderful place to stay!

Had a terrific stay. Staff was friendly, helpful. Room was charming, spotless and comfortable. Felt spacious enough for three of us. Grounds were beautiful. Enjoyed the fitness room and our round of golf. Will definitely come back.

Only suggestions are golf related. Check in at the hotel is at 3 and the range closes at 4. By the time we got settled and down there we only had 10 minutes to practice. That was a bummer. It should really be open until dusk. Secondly we teed off and had not one but THREE maintenance tractors following us through hole 4. It was extraordinarily loud, distracting and frustrating. I actually had to ask them to leave as it was ruining our peaceful round of golf. Could definitely understand one hole but four was too much. It was not very thoughtful for the players.

We went for our anniversary trip and had a lovely time. Quail Lodge location is great for getting to so many places quickly. Our room was comfy cozy with a very comfortable bed. Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favor but we def made the best of it. Loved the smores at the firepit that they provide and the 9 hole putt putt was fun.

We liked it all but the front desk staff was lacking experience. At check out they did not give us the $50 credit each day for breakfasts. My husband did the checking out and he didn't know we booked the hotel through Travelzoo with the breakfast. I saw that our bill was too high from the quoted price we were given online so I had to go back and get them to refigure our bill. Lucky I checked the receipt! Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

The front desk staff were kind and friendly. We loved the window seat in the room. There is plenty of restful stuff to do here: a free 9-hole putting green for families, a serene lake to look at, plenty of walking paths with lovely views. They have the nicest fitness rooms I've ever seen.

Great hotel on a resort. Golf ,tennis and pickleball available at the resort. Breakfast was great.

This is a lovely property. I'm so glad to have found it on Travelzoo! The staff is wonderful and they upgraded us to a bungalow which I highly recommend. I will definitely stay again!

Great location - Very low key and relaxing, restaurant was great. The room accommodates 21st century technology which some hotels with the same Star ratings do not.

Beautiful grounds and surrounding area

The property is beautiful and impeccably maintained. The rooms are spacious, nicely appointed and comfortable.

The only down side is that really can’t walk to anything except a Mexican restaurant and a sandwich place across the street.

We loved our stay and travelzoo. We wish the hotel had a hot tub and a laundry room. Other than that it was wonderful.

Great weekend in Carmel. Quail lodge was very nice. So many nice touches. The room was large with robes & slippers & plenty of storage. We used the hotels electric bikes and enjoyed them. The wine hour was nice. We really enjoyed the breakfasts we had at the hotel too. Staff was nice. The pool area looked really nice although we didn’t use but my husband enjoyed the sauna. Would definitely stay again. This was a great deal on travelzoo.

The staff are very nice and friendly, the swimming pool and sauna are wonderful, and the wine during happy hour is excellent!

Great experience overall, however want to give feedback on SERVICE. Sunday nights, onsite restaurant/limited menu closes at 9p. We were eating outside and ordered food, drinks, etc and was never told after 9p that the kitchen was closing. The server never asked us if we wanted dessert, etc. My young daughters were very disappointed. Then I asked for a glass of wine at 9:05p, and our server/bartender said that the bar was closed too. Wow! Not ok for the amount of money we were spending! The bar should stay open/available for anyone who still is seated and eating! My spaghetti bolognese was served with penne pasta - was not communicated to me. It was $28 and tasted like something I could have received from Olive Garden. Way overpriced for the quality. My daughter's Steak Frites was below average - came out warm and quality not good for the price either.

We come to the Quail Lodge often, usually on. Sunday nights but service needs to be better.

Stayed on property for an extended weekend stay We used the pool gym and ate our meals on both restaurants on site. Our premium room overlooked the pool and had views of mountains. Service and food were excellent. A very well rested stay. There were other amenities near or on property still to be explored

The grounds were beautiful. Travelzoo made it very easy to book.

I don't like writing negative reviews but there were issues with the staff. Checking in took 20 minutes even though the manager was busy chatting with me and there was only 1 person ahead of me...not sure why he couldn't check me in. Breakfast was nice and most of the restaurant staff was exceptional but there was a bus person who was absolutely rude to me - she took away from husband's meal when he left for the restroom, the next day she nearly hit me in the face with my meal. The 2nd night there was a child screaming in the room above us before we went to bed & we let that go as the noise had calmed down by the time we went to bed but started up again around 5:30 am. The 3rd day we were awakened by bloodcurdling screams from the child for over an hour. We called the front desk and they said they would address it. After it was clear they were not going to address it, I called again and they asked us to move rooms in the middle of the night. They made it pretty clear that they were not happy we had called. Finally someone from the hotel addressed the issue and the child stopped. We were then called and told they would provide some accommodation to us. In the morning when we finished breakfast, we asked to talk with the hotel manager. We were told the manager had stepped out for a few minutes. We finished packing and about 30 minutes later went to the front desk for our final bill and to talk with the manager who still was not available. Jennifer arrived and said she was the assistant manager. I explained the situation from the past 2 evenings, she made it pretty clear as did the other front desk person that we were not being very sensitive about the parents of the screaming child. She grudgingly provided a $200 credit and rudely told me she would mark our account as people who should not have a room near anyone else. They basically made us feel like we were the issue for complaining about very obnoxious guests. Also, room was only cleaned one day even though we were out of the room almost 4 hours on the 2nd day. We never received a call from the hotel manager. While we can understand the difficulty with a child throwing a tantrum. We would have expected the parents to have consoled the child and/or taken them out of the room for a walk or a drive to calm them down. If the child was sick, then take them to the hospital but don't expect other hotel guests to endure such inappropriate behavior. Also, the fact that as soon as someone from the hotel arrived at their door, the issue subsided.

Overall a very nice hotel with modern-feeling rooms and relaxing grounds. We had a balcony overlooking the central pond, which was very peaceful. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was very spacious with a shower and a tub. There were a few minor issues with the room, though. The AC system was loud when it started up, and in order to maintain a temperature, it seemed to start up and stop pretty frequently. Wi-fi was fairly slow (generally <20 Mbps, often <15). Electrical sockets were the old kind that are pretty loose -- if you use two-prong plugs, expect them to fall out pretty easily. The toilet was constantly running at a low level. It was too chilly to try the pool, but my wife and daughter used the fitness center and found it to be comprehensive, with well-maintained machines. There are a few outdoor firepits that are lit in the evening, and you can get s'mores kits from the front desk, which is fun. We didn't try the putting course. Really enjoyed the daily wine hour -- high quality wine! We also appreciated the $50 daily breakfast credit from Travelzoo, but the hotel was really unclear on their breakfast options. The website and the info on the hotel TV described a Breakfast Basket that could be delivered to the room, and the front desk initially said it was an option as well, but later we learned from another front desk agent that it was no longer available. There are two Blink EV chargers on the premises, but one of them was broken (which only became apparent after initiating a charge session, so I still got charged an initiation fee of $0.49 -- had to wrangle with Blink support to get that reversed). There's a cute shopping center right next door, with an excellent Mexican restaurant (Baja Cantina) if you don't want to eat at the hotel's restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. Although the resort was full, you couldn’t tell because the resort was spread out. It was so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the on site activities such as the 9 hole putting green that wrapped around through the resort among the rooms and bungalows, featuring natural grass. The electric assist bikes were easy to check out and made it fun to explore the area. Loved having a private patio at our bungalow, and a fire pit just outside of the patio. What a restful way to enjoy and celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary!

The grounds are gorgeous, five minutes outside of Carmel and the weather is sunny!

the property was beautiful. My granddaughter enjoyed the pool, games and s'mo's by the fire pit at night.

Everything we needed was there and dining restaurant across the street as well as Earth Bound farm close.

The setting is very peaceful & beautiful. The grounds are really kept up & rooms ( bungalow) was spacious & clean. Lobby was also comfortable & inviting.Staff were helpful and friendly . The food at the Covey Grill was plentiful and okay, not amazing. Food at Grill was pricey. It would have been even a better stay to have a hot tub ! And nice to offer bocce as well. Overall though would recommend.

Great place to relax, warmer weather than Camel by the Sea, yet easy access to all local points of interest.

Peaceful, intimate settting. Multiple firepits nestled throughout the property gave everyone their privacy. Great food and plenty of amenities - we enjoyed the s'mores by the fire, riding ebikes on surrounding trails with gorgeous views, multiple putting greens and the pool. We had a spacious room with outdoor seating overlooking a pond. We loved it and my kids are already asking when we can go back - it's the perfect getaway!

We loved our stay at the Quail lodge. We have come to Carmel over the years but our best experience has been here at Quail Lodge. The backdrop against the mountains added to the included amenities, friendly staff and larger rooms makes these accommodations the best.

Lovely grounds. Complimentary upgrade at check in to larger room with patio and view of the golf course, water features and mountains. Hotel staff was welcoming and honored the travelzoo discount perfectly. Breakfast was more than you could eat with your credit and was delicious with healthy options and great serice. Went to Edgars at the golf course for dinner, staff drove us in the golf cart. Live music was excellent and the happy hour was just beginning to wind down in the bar. The staff was very attentive to the patrons offering bar nuts and drink refills efficiently. The property is quiet and it is just a few miles from downtown, so nice to come back to after a day in town. Robes and slippers in your room. Pool and gym areas were clean. Across the street from the lodge is a little shopping center and we tried the mexican restaurant which had great bean dip; rosemary chicken quesadillas and good margaritas. We also tried the water bikes at the Elkorn Slough about 30 minutes away and were delighted with all the sealife. Seals, jellyfish and so much more visible. Highly recommend.

Beautiful quiet place to stay.

The deal from Travelzoo was an excellent deal with the inclusion of the site credit and the meal credit. Looking forward to more deals for the Quail and other fine hotels.

The Quail was an ideal place for us to get away for a couple of days. The grounds were neat with fire pits scattered throughout which made for cozy fireside chats in the cool evening. We got upgraded to a king room with a wonderful view overlooking the putting green. The place was tranquil and peaceful. Dining at the Covey Grill was a wonderful experience. By chance we were able to try their 3-course prix fixe meal only available on Wed nights, the day we checked in. The meals were prepared and presented perfectly. The staff was nice and friendly and even the chef came out to chat with the diners about their dining experience. Highly recommend the Quail for a getaway.

Wanted to try the e-bikes, but too big for my wife. Wish they had regular bikes. Good value. Enjoyed the daily wine hour. Will definitely want to stay there in future.

Nice, comfortable lodge with fun stuff to enjoy at lodge. Even though it was cold outside we still enjoyed warm heated pool. Room was large, well equipped with comfortable bed. Staff was super nice. Breakfast was delicious. Frogs were a little noisy but we also got to enjoy watching young deer running through the fields.

We enjoyed two nights at the Quail Lodge. It was very relaxing and we look forward to a future stay.

Wine hour was from 3-4pm, a silly time that most folks would not take advantage of. Lobby coffee bar from 5:30am-6:30am, a similarly silly time. Made the hotel look cheap. Otherwise, the hotel is lovely and in a nice location. Nice ability to get a reduced rate on a beautiful golf course too.

We loved our room at the Quail, the grounds are beautifully kept, the food is good, and we were able to play pickleball!n We would love to return on a future travelzoo. The $45 breakfast credit each day was a bonus!

Very nice accomodations and a friendly and professional staff. Buildings are a bit dated, but very well taken care of. On site restaurant is very good. Room decorations are a bit sparse, but rooms are clean and furnishings are more than adequate. Room rates are not inexpensive, but nothing in Carmel is inexpensive. Travelzoo was able to provide an excellent package rate for this hotel.

We had an excellent time at Quail Lodge and we appreciated the solid value . We booked a 3-night anniversary stay and upon arrival, the front desk upgraded our room. They also provided a bottle of wine, some chocolates and a nice "congratulations" note from the staff. The ambiance of Quail Lodge is wonderful. It is quiet, understated and refined. The Travelzoo package included a daily breakfast and we were not disappointed as the food, service and dining room ambiance were excellent. The lodge offers a complimentary wine hour each afternoon that we also enjoyed. Golfers will really love the caliber of the course and practice facilities. We had fun playing the 9-hole putting course that is right next to the lobby. All in all, we highly recommend Quail Lodge and we look forward to future opportunities to return.
