Housed in a 1913 building, the boutique Hotel Zeppelin is filled with vintage decor from the 1970s, when San Francisco was a global hub of culture, attracting musicians and artists from around the world. Located one block from Union Square and just two minutes from the nearest cable car stop, the hotel's location makes it easy for guests to access all of the city's top attractions.

Accommodations are in sync with the city’s funky vibe, incorporating playful combinations of colors and textures, graffiti-splashed artwork and vinyl turntables in each room. Blackout shades keep out the daylight after a night on the town, and John Boos maple-topped desks make working on the road more comfortable. Stretching up to 430 square feet, suites have separate bedrooms, and some include fireplaces, custom-designed furniture and outdoor decks.

The Peace and Love venues are fun spots to chill out with old-school board games, shuffleboard, billiards and even quick-shot basketball. Lounge fireside at The Mantel Bar in the spacious lobby, where '70s-era artwork decorates exposed concrete walls. Guests should also check out Rambler Restaurant and indulge in fresh pasta dishes or wood-fired pizza from Wolfgang Puck's original Postrio pizza oven.

Excellent, friendly, and helpful staff. Great location. Rooms were clean and remodeled. Beds were ok, the sheets were scratchy and not that comfortable. And the walls (as I imagine all older hotels in this area are as well) were thin and you could hear all the other guests.

Great location and walking distance to lots of places. The room was humid and the A/C didn’t work very well.

Beautiful boutique hotel, centrally located in the heart of Union square. Checking in was a breeze except no welcome drinks as indicated but overall we had a great stay...will definitely return

We didn't get our welcome drink so that was probably the one negative. It wasn't even mentioned.

We stayed at Hotel Zeppelin on the Thursday before Christmas. It was ideally situated for us to go to the Geary Theater for a performance of A Christmas Carol. Being close to Union Square was also a big plus. Had breakfast at Pinecrest Diner on Friday morning. It is only a block from the hotel. The room was quite nice and the staff members were uniformly friendly. An excellent experience overall.
Other Comments
We did not take advantage of some of the extra features available during our stay such as complimentary bike usage or the welcome beverage, but it is nice that those are offered. Our room on the fourth floor faced Mason Street so it was a bit noisy in the late evening and again in the early morning.

Fun, funky atmosphere. My husband had lived on Clay St. in early 1960's, so was great fun to see the city now. Staff was very friendly & helpful.
