Dear Hotel Manager/Guest Services Team, I am writing regarding my recent stay at The Colonnade Hotel in Boston for three nights, from Thursday, April 9 to Sunday, April 12, 2026. Unfortunately, my experience was significantly impacted by a couple of serious issues. First, the heating/air conditioning unit in my room was not functioning properly throughout my stay. The heat was excessive and would not stop blowing. Despite attempts to adjust it, the temperature remained uncomfortable, which made it difficult to rest and enjoy the room. Management indicated it would be fixed, but the temperature could not be adjusted. Opening the windows was necessary but resulted in very cold night temperatures, creating an inconsistent and disruptive environment that made it difficult to sleep and maintain basic comfort. Additionally, I was very concerned about encountering a rat in the hotel lobby during my stay. This raised serious concerns about cleanliness and overall safety standards, and it detracted greatly from what I expected to be a comfortable and high-quality experience. When the rat was reported to the front desk, the attendant was dismissive, said nothing, and did not address the issue. The lack of response further compounded my concern and left me feeling that guest safety and sanitation were not being taken seriously. Beyond the immediate discomfort, these issues had several broader impacts on my stay: Loss of essential amenities: A functioning climate control system is a basic requirement, not an optional feature. Its failure meant I was unable to use the room as intended. Sleep disruption and physical discomfort: The extreme and uncontrollable temperatures significantly affected my ability to rest, which is a primary purpose of booking a hotel stay. Health and sanitation concerns: The presence of a rodent in a common area raises legitimate concerns about hygiene standards and potential exposure risks. Lack of adequate remediation: While the AC issue was acknowledged, it was not resolved during my stay, and the rodent issue was not addressed at all, demonstrating a lack of timely or appropriate corrective action. Diminished value of the stay: I paid for a level of comfort, safety, and service that was not delivered, substantially reducing the overall value of my reservation. Impact on overall experience: Instead of enjoying my time in Boston, I had to manage discomfort and concerns that should not arise at a hotel of this standard. Given these circumstances, I am requesting a reimbursement for my stay. The issues I experienced did not reflect the level of service and quality associated with or advertised for The Colonnade, and they materially affected my overall experience. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and am happy to provide any additional details if needed. I look forward to your response and a resolution. The colonnade is an upscale, very well managed and staffed hotel in a desirable location. The rooms are quite comfortable and newly renovated. this was our second stay and we will return.

Everything was great. We had problems with the television. We wanted to watch the baseball game but it was not on the TV so we called the front desk. They said they would send someone up to look at the TV but it was never fixed. The front desk person who checked us in did not tell us about the area for complimentary coffee. We found it on the last day.
