Built as the summer home of a former state senator in the 1800s, Windsor Mansion Inn maintains the warmth and elegant of its former life as a private estate. Since the turn of the century, the Federal-style manor welcomed esteemed guests -- including Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Calvin Coolidge -- to its historic hamlet of Vermont. Following a $1 million renovation to restore the property back to its former glory, the inn re-opened in June of 2016.

Over 14 acres of manicured gardens, slate paths link stone benches across the extensive lawn and brick patios with wrought iron bistro tables weave into the landscape around the inn, looking out at Lake Runnemede, the Cornish Hills and Mount Ascutney. Throughout the 20th century, the family’s chambers were lovingly converted into 17 guest rooms with private baths, central heating and free Wi-Fi. All accommodations are furnished with dark woods, four-poster beds and many have fireplaces.

From the inn, Woodstock is 14 miles and Dartmouth College is 19 miles. Those visiting in winter can access the ski slopes of Killington in about an hour, while the White and Green mountain ranges are less than two hours by car. Art lovers should be sure to make the trip over the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge to New Hampshire to visit the "stunning" home, studios and gardens of the great 19th century sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens (Travel + Leisure)located just a 10-minute drive from the inn.

Enjoyed Most: Location of the inn and the hospitality of the inn keepers.
Other Comments: The room can be better equipped, like more hangers in closet (there are one two), some hanging hook in bethroom will be nice, and too strong new paint smell.

Enjoyed Most: Our visit there was wonderful. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the views from the front lawn are spectacular! We were fortunate to have been there at just the right time to see the gorgeous foliage that Mother Nature provided. Breakfast was much more than a "continental" breakfast and that was a wonderful surprise. The 'hostess" was a lovely lady who made us feel right at home. The owner was gracious and informative about his views of the hotel and it's ongoing restoration, and that is encouraging. Would certainly go back again and will be letting friends and relatives know about this lovely, quiet and relaxing hotel. Thank you for having it in your "deals" otherwise we would not have heard of it! Loved it.
Other Comments: Lack of signs directing us to the Mansion was a problem. Better directions on their brochures would be a great advantage also. The Mansion is off of rte. 5, but there is no street sign for them. The street actually is off of Juniper St., which is directly off of rte. 5, but there is no indication that that is the case. We had to stop at a local business to find out how to get there.

Other Comments: While still in the midst of renovation this hotel is a gem that will continue to get better as their plans come to completion.
