Opened in December 2016, Hotel Becket is South Lake Tahoe’s newest hotel and is located within a five-minute walk of the Heavenly Resort gondola. Joie de Vivre Hotels merged two smaller properties into the 167-room boutique hotel and named the property for the becket knot, a nautical term for making one rope from two. Designed as an alpine lodge, the hotel features a huge fireplace in the lobby and merges rustic and modern details with reclaimed Douglas Fir wood, recycled glass and bursts of color reflecting its vibrant surroundings.

Guest rooms are outfitted with Tempur-Pedic mattresses, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, salvaged barn wood furnishings, Jonathan Adler light fixtures and custom watercolors inspired by Lake Tahoe. Suites have private bedrooms, living rooms with sofabeds and private patios with fire pits. Accommodations are pet-friendly, but visitors who travel without their four-legged family members are welcome to take the hotel’s resident Bernese Mountain Dog, Remington, on walks and hikes.

The property features a seasonal pool, an indoor hot tub and access to a private beach on the lake. After working up an appetite on the slopes or in the lake, guests can dine on Southern barbecue at Ten Crows BBQ before unwinding with local craft beers at the indoor-outdoor bar, which includes games and fire pits. To soothe weary muscles, visitors can relax in the sauna or book a massage at the spa.

In addition to nearly 5,000 acres of ski and snowboard terrain a few hundred yards away, the hotel offers easy access to Heavenly Village’s restaurants, shopping and nightlife, as well as Edgewood Golf Course and Zephyr Cove, where visitors can rent boats or board a lake cruise.

Location is terrific, really only issue was the noise situation at night and this seemed like a common occurrence.

Walls are very thin and we heard the people above us all night walk around, and loudly bang on their doors. There was no security or hotel staff to say anything to them.

Super clean room, great staff, good amenities for the price.

It was a cruel prank that housekeeping would only leave decaf coffee in the room with the coffee service. ;-) Checked into first room and the toilet didn't work, switch to another room and it was fine. Staff was great, apologetic and understanding. Low-flow toilets in the room are kinda' frustrating.

Great location across from heavenly village and gondola. The front office was friendly and accommodated our requests.

Be sure you stay in a room in the front buildings near the office. The back building was not as nice. The rooms were in need of maintenance and were difficult to get to. We were not happy with the quality of these rooms. We moved rooms and were much happier.

I guess the old say as you get what you pay for. Non stop problems!!! I booked it for the indoor hot tub/spa which was broken. As was our towel rack, our room keys half of the time and the valet go our car stuck in the snow which made us 45 minutes late!!!! This hotel is horribly run. A hotel that is not connected bought it and has little to no service in there part. Had to call and wait for even basic service!

Location was great! And the staff members were nice. The spa area smelled good.
Other Comments
The rooms were bare, and small. It wasn't very clean when we arrived. Seemed like it was undergoing some construction or renovation. The hot tub was under maintenance, which was a bummer after a full day of boarding. Also, the pipes busted at one point, which isn't specifically the hotel's fault, but was added to the disappointment.
