Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, a sprawling chalet-style property 10 minutes from Lake Geneva’s town center that takes inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright's prairie-style architecture and design, is one of Wisconsin's best resorts (U.S. News & World Report Travel).

Rooms are country chic with leather armchairs and antique-style furniture, plush cotton bedding, minifridges, complimentary coffee service and bottled water. The resort features seven different restaurants, cafes and lounges including the Geneva ChopHouse and Ristorante Brissago, both winners of multiple OpenTable Diners' Choice awards.

This resort feels like an enormous country club with two golf courses and multiple pools on site; guests can also access the nearby Timber Ridge sister resort with its 50,000-square-foot indoor water park, heated waterslides and a lazy river (passes available to guests for an additional fee).

The resort is located just 10 minutes from downtown Lake Geneva -- sometimes referred to as "the Hamptons of the Midwest" -- with its many boutique shops, restaurants, bars and popular public beach.

Their system for booking through a 3rd party site caused confusion. We booked two nights, but (1) when we checked in they only had us down for 1 night. No big deal it was fixed on the spot, but (2) the next morning we had about 3 different people show up to our door looking at us and asking when we were going to check out. Had to keep reexplaining the situation. Highly annoying.

Staff at check-out was very nice and adjusted the bill; I really appreciated that, but I came for a special celebration and the resort has lost its shine. Sad...

Purchased an upgraded room, it was old and tired. The hotel portion of the resort is in serious need of an upgrade/refresh. Halls are poorly lit, old carpet, does not feel luxurious at all. Staff was very nice but some did not know about their own promotions.

They didn’t have and couldn’t find our reservation. We waited for over an hour to get our room. Therefore missing out on spa time.

Food quality in Cafe and ChopHouse is below 4- star/diamond level. Coffee shop never replenished pastry assortment after morning rush and operated with empty display the whole day.

Easiest hotel check-in in history! The Grand Geneva does the most amazing Christmas decor and activities! It has been our tradition to spend a weekend there during the holidays, and plan on keeping the tradition going.

Our stay was great! The ambiance Friday night around the fire with the 3 piece jazz set up was very relaxing. The skiing was so much fun too, and just being in the lodge after a fun day. We love the Grand Geneva, and will definitely be back!
Other Comments
Our room was very cold. It was very cold outside (0 degrees), but it was difficult to heat the room, even when we had the thermostat on 78 degrees. We also had a baby in the room next to us that we could hear very loudly crying late at night and early in the morning. I know that can't be controlled, but it made it difficult to get rest.
