This was my first time staying with Sofitel and enjoyed the experience. The staff was fantastic (especially Mohamed) , and the European aesthetic and details appreciated. Would rather not have to pay a resort fee when many of the amenities would be included at other chains.

Overall our experience was great. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The morning coffee was a nice bonus. However it was not hot and no plates / napkins for danish.
Retrieving our cards from the hotel lot took almost an hour. There was a lot going on in the city Saturday which impacted this task. The staff was apologetic and fortunately we did not have a reservation we needed to make.

I do not like the practice of adding the resort fee- there are really no perks you are paying for. They offer a "walking French breakfast"? which is tiny pastries and coffee in the lobby if you can find it. Literally not even an apple or piece of fruit. Hotels should just go back to charging what they would upfront.

We were originally assigned a standard room despite paying for suite. A reservation email presented to receptionist straightened the matter out. We were misled about destination fee, only to learn later it didn't apply to us because we booked our room before it went into effect.

Hotel is nice and well situated. My room was vast and comfortable. Although I was told my room would be made up every day, the maid service did not make up my room. I shared with the front desk around 5 pm and all they did was ask if I needed to replenish something. They did not offer cleaning. They left two bottles of water on my table. My valet cost was 63.00 not the 59.00 advertised. The folks at Liberte Lounge, especially Terrence and Tara , were awesome!

Very much appreciated staff giving us early access to check in. Took 3 calls to get sofa bed made up with soft feather mattress topper that is the Sofitel trademark. Without the mattress topper, the sofa bed in unusable with a thin camp mattress through which any guest can feel the metal bars underneath. The hotel is over air conditioned which is not just physically uncomfortable but environmentally irresponsible. Being told at check in there are scales inside the mini bar fridge so guests are not allowed to store their own food or drinks was a new low that I’ve never before experienced.

When we returned to hotel after an evening out, the battery in the door locking mechanism had apparently “died” and our card key wouldn’t work. We called the front desk and maintenance (and security) came after about 15 minutes. It then took another hour before maintenance was able to get us into our room. We had to wait — in the hallway— at midnight until the maintenance staff person finally was able to open the door.
The following morning we contacted the manager and he agreed to a substantial reduction in our room charge which we appreciated but it was still an unpleasant experience and worrisome that it took such a long time to be able to get us back into our room and be able to go to bed.

Overall a fantastic experience from our 3 nights staying in this hotel. We specially appreciate the following features:
1. The room (ours was standard room facing a packing lot) was spacious and quiet, and house keeping service was prompt;
2. Room amenities were high quality and thoughtful, e.g. toiletries, sleepers, complementary bottled water, good internet connections, It's more impressive that they do not have extra "resort fee" or "facility charge".
3. The dinning experience: our two evening drink/snack/dinner were great - good quality and generous portion of food and drinks, courteous and prompt service by the same waiter (Chris) for both evenings. 1. the dinning options and prices listed on their website, and posted in their elevators are not consistent with the actual menu from the dinning facilities.
2. The breakfast buffet: though there were a lot pastries, and traditional choices of hot items (e.g. sausage, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc.), there was no Oat meals provided, and coffee and tea were not included. This call me by surprise - I would have ordered a la carte if I knew this up front. (Partially my own fault - as they did let us to browse the items before our decision.

I was somewhat disappointed with this hotel. I’ve been wanting to stay in a Sofitel for a while now but this one is in need of upgrading. The staff were kind and professional. The lobby was nice. But the fourth floor corridor carpet was bunched up and is a trip hazard. My room was OK overall but the mattress was so worn out that a feather bed had been placed on top. The water pressure in the bathroom is poor and the shower attachment in the tub did not work properly. It took forever for me to wash my thick hair! Also the view outside the window was pretty terrible—it overlooked the top floor of a parking garage so it was pretty hard to keep the curtains open. I also did not like the hotel policy of the minibar. You can’t keep things in the refrigerator because you are charged every time you remove something. The hotel did provide me with a separate mini fridge as I have medication that needs to remain refrigerated. There was no charge for this, which was nice, but I have a feeling there would have been one if I wanted it for the convenience only. :-(

I booked through Travelocity and was having trouble booking two nights, it would only accept one. The confirmation email said to call Sofitel directly with any questions or problems with the booking, so I did. The first time Noone was available, so I left a message. Two days later, no return call, so I called again. A day later, no reply, so I called again and was disconnected when I reached a live person, so I called a fourth time. This person would not honor the rate from the promotion and was going to charge me $259 for the 2nd night, almost double. I paid less for a week in Munich! They told me to call Travelocity if I didn't want that, which I can't because it's all online. I said no, that's fine, I'll only stay one night, andi did. While Sofitel in Philadelphia Is a very nice hotel, compared to Sofitel Munoch, it looks like a Motel 6. No breakfast included, no separate restaurant from the lounge, no spa with pool/hot tub, much smaller rooms, and no concierge service. I asked about taxi service to get to a restaurant Friday morning and was told I had to call myself, but I'd be better using Uber because the taxis won't show up for short trips! The meal I had Thursday night in the lounge was excellent, if pricy, and the wine selection was great. The one really nice thing about the room was the large bathroom with separate shower and tub, although this was also smaller than in Munich. I cannot judge the valet service, as I only had them park my car when I arrived and brought it when I left, but they were very pleasant. Maid service was superb, the room was in excellent shape, and the maid helped me find the ice machine in the hallway - she actually walked me to it. I would only return here if I found another reduced price deal. The regular prices are exhorbitant.

Large room, well appointed. Excellent staff! Internet did not work for much of our stay. We had to spend a couple of hours working with their IT department to get internet working. Pillows and comforter were down. I am very allergic. They should give notice or provide non-down as standard.
