Overall good stay. The room was not well cleaned when we arrived. There were big globs of human hair on the bathroom floor that were easily seen. I was a little dismayed when my wife and I grabbed what we thought was complimentary water in the room with a $10 sticker on the back side. Seemed a little petty for a high quality hotel. Other than that onsite food was quality and staff was solid.

The hotel was lovely from the moment I arrived, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I liked the fact there were two restaurants on site, and I was able to enjoy one of them with the food credit I received. The room was a nice size, and quiet. I was glad that I could not hear other guests during my stay. One thing that stood out to me was the quality of the towels. They were nice and absorbent which is hard to come by even in a four star hotel. My only complaint is how small the shower was. It was tiny and could use a little more sprucing up in that area. Overall, a nice stay that I would enjoy again.

I had a great experience staying at Swissotel Chicago. The location is perfect—close to everything but still feels calm and tucked away. The views from the room were absolutely stunning, especially of the river and city skyline.
The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was super cozy, and I appreciated the attention to detail in the room setup.

The check-in experience was not a smooth process. The first woman that we encountered said that we could get into the room early, get an upgraded room with a better view and late check out if we paid $50. I didn’t think it was something we should do. But my boyfriend said that he would pay the additional $50 charge. Instead of the entire Room charge plus the $50 went on his credit card. When we arrived to the room, it was not an upgrade. I paid for a Riverview room. Really I didn’t get the river view room. We had a view of the office building and a little view of the river around the corner. We were also supposed to get two drink tickets and a $15 food credit. I asked her about both and she didn’t see anything about the food Credit. She did agree to give us the two free drink tickets. I did not think I should’ve had to ask for them. After going to the hotel room, I realized it wasn’t an upgrade and dealt with a different Woman for check-in. Her name is mary at the front office. She did an amazing job. She said we didn’t even get an upgrade. She reversed out the charges took off the additional $50. And she did see that we were supposed to get a $15 credit. It just took a lot of time back-and-forth. The free drink tickets are rather limited and I don’t believe it says it on the tickets. Also the $15 credit for food. Both the drink and food tickets are not deducted from your bill at the restaurant. Everything goes onto your hotel room Bill. After you check out, it is then deducted with the coupons. I had to get three different Bills printed out. I thought everything was paid for. And a few days later I received an additional charge of $27 on my credit card. I still have to call the hotel on it. I would not use this hotel again because of that. Also, we did arrive downstairs on a Sunday around 11 AM. They did not have enough bartenders. And there weren’t any servers. We probably had to wait 20 minutes before I even getting asked if we would want anything. One of the bartenders made it clear. He was getting off his shift and wasn’t going to wait on anyone else. I just don’t think the service Was as good as as it has been at the Swiss hotel.

I feel the Swiss hotel has gone down in Service. Obviously the front desk is not familiar with Travelzoo drink and food tickets. I have read another reviews that they really push the additional $50 charge to have an early check-in and a late check-in. When we did pay for the $50 we didn’t even have the late checkout on our account. It was just a big mess. Again, waiting for 20 minutes just to get glasses of water at the bar. It took us almost an hour for us both to get drinks and get our entrée. I think that there are other hotels that can provide a better value and service. Again, I would like to give credit to mary at the front office.

Everything went very smoothly from booking the reservation, to check in, all the way to check out. Every staff member was courteous, kind and helpful. Only small complaint was the oddly shaped shower - great water pressure, but difficult to get in and out of, and find room to soap up where you weren't in the stream of the water! Otherwise great!

The hotel shop had a very minimal offering of any type of food items. It was extremely cold outside during our visit. Even a small bottle of milk would have been helpful.

I booked Swisshotel for a 1 night staycation and had a very enjoyable experience. Great hotel in a great location right off of the lake. Nice bar scene and they have a good looking restaurant in which I did not get a chance to try.
The room itself was really nice and spacious. Had a good view and bed was really comfy. The only issue I would call out is that the shower was very small so unless you're really small people, its a hassle to shower together lol! We ordered room service the next day and the breakfast sandwich was really good...ham, eggs, cheese and avocado on a croissant.

Well, here’s one: when we arrived, the person checking us in supplied two drink coupons. We were about to use them at the adjacent bar, but he said that was closed (looked pretty open to us). He said they could only be used at the self service location right behind him (for alcohol, juice, whatever). The next morning I grabbed two juice items and presented the coupons to another person at the desk, but she said they could only be used at the bar. Kind of a mixed message; I simply responded, “What are these actually good for?” As I walked away empty handed, she said I could take the items. Geez. And the day before the original guy said we had $15 to use for breakfast. We thought after all this they’d probably look at us like we were nuts if we told them to take $15 off our breakfast bill, so we went elsewhere. Oh, and we had zero hot water available to us in Room 3417, so I thought I would tell the person in the morning (you know, the one that said the opposite of what the first person said about the coupons), just so they might know about something that did affect a room but might have been an entire floor or building problem. Guess I was looking for something like “We’re very sorry about that. Next time let us know and we’ll be right up to take care of things.” I really got more of a chastisement, or at least that’s how we took it, when she replied, “You could have contacted us.” Just a bad sounding delivery, but we let it slide. As if we wanted to follow up a lovely dinner and visit to a jazz club by having a plumber join us in our room so we’d have hot water to wash our faces with. Long story short, of course we’d come back, but as we said at breakfast somewhere else, “Swissotel needs to get their act together.”

It would have been nice to have a map of the hotel to know which floor was which and where to go (with floor names) to find where I was going.

Instructions like "you cannot use the 2 free drinks at the restaurant bar because it's not affiliated with the hotel" would have been nice to know.

We went to Chicago to see the holiday market & other holiday activities. The hotel was centrally located & easily walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. The staff was friendly & helpful.

The hotel is lovely, with well apportioned rooms, nice lobby. But was under staffed for when we stayed there: the bar area was closed. So we weren’t able to get full value from the resort fee. The accommodating staff allowed us the use the drink vouchers in the snack shop for wine or beer. Very nice fitness area
