What we didn't like was the hotel added POSSIBLE incidental charges to our credit card, including hotel charges. Reason given if we didn't pay our credit card or was not valid. Made no sense to us. Never happened to us before, and we travel a lot.

Fantastic stay! The restaurant was excellent. Be sure to try the Hot Brown! The hotel was very clean and our room was very spacious. Love the ambience of the hotel with all the wood! Best thing about the hotel was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and so helpful!

Everything was very easy except the checkout was confusing. I made the reservations for everyone, but we didn't realize that the room charges would be put on my card. Everyone tried getting the charges changed to their cards. That should be stated in the Travelzoo comments.
Other Comments
The Brown Hotel is an icon and I'm glad we got to experience it. The rooms were clean on the surface, but they need a good overhaul and updating. The furniture was very scuffed and scratched, old wallpaper and paint needed to be replaced, and dust in vents and on windowsills needed a good deep cleaning. The staff was very nice and helpful.

It was pleasant but the hotel is showing a lot of wear and tear. Not as clean as one would expect. Furniture in rooms are a bit beat up and lot of dust on curtains and some water damage and mold But old world atmoshere was nich

Location and ambiance were good. The way they charged for the room was confusing. Free parking made it acceptable to want to stay there. The Brown Theater was w/in walking distance, as were some restaurants.
