Overview

Perched on a quiet, sandy beach with sweeping views of the bay, Monterey Tides, part of Joie de Vivre Hotels, offers a secluded coastal retreat. Unwind to the hypnotic sound of waves crashing on this intimate stretch of beach away from the touristy downtown waterfront.

Guest rooms evoke the ocean with rich blue walls and crisp white linens. All rooms have minifridges, coffeemakers with Starbucks coffee and blackout shades. Some rooms offer views of the garden, while others overlook the ocean. It is worth mentioning that guest rooms are accessed via shared exterior walkways, so expect other guests to pass by your window. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning.

Hop on a beach cruiser bike, available for rent at the hotel, and pedal 15 minutes along the well-maintained, mostly flat Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail to popular Fisherman's Wharf. Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium are about 15 minutes away by car.

The on-site Vizcaino Waterfront Food + Drink restaurant is a nice spot to take in the view while dining on seafood dishes like fish tacos, clam chowder and seared scallops. The lively Bar Sebastián offers sweeping views of Monterey Bay, as well as a seasonal menu, craft cocktails and beers on tap.

The location, the beach is beautiful. The staff is very helpful and efficient.

My room was very small and kind of dark--not too many lights. Coffee machine was not working. Restaurant is on the expensive side considering what they have to offer and the fish I ordered was not very tasty. The wrost part of the hotel experience was the cleaning service. The walkway was very dirty. There were too broken to-go boxes and cups with leftover food on the walkway for two days and no one picked them up. In addition, there were spills of certain sticky drinks on the walkway, I need to clean my luggage wheels after this trip.

Awesome location! We had a first floor room facing the beach, which at first didn’t seem like the best arrangement; however, the first floor rooms open up the raised seating areas with comfortable chairs and heaters. Perfect for evening wine and sunsets and morning coffee. The beach was amazing. Soft white sand, low surf and a lifeguard on duty. The property is very stylish and comfortable.

Loved the stay and I would go again, but the property could use some maintenance. Nothing major.

The room was very dirty. Wash cloths were not available. The room smelled like musty cigarettes. The hotel felt like a 2 star.

THE ROOMS WERE NOT CLEANED VERY WELL! THE ROOM WAS NEVER VACUMNED WHILE WE WERE THERE AND THE COUNTERS AND BATHROOMS WERE NOT WIPED DOWN EITHER. WE TOOK PHOTOS TO VERIFY THIS. ALSO WE HAD TO ASK FOR HOUSEKEEPING TO COME TO OUR ROOM AT 4:30 PM STILL NOT DONE. THE BAR AND FOOD WERE EXCELLENT BUT THE ROOMS WERE SUBSTANDARD WHEN IT CAME TO HOUSEKEEPING! HAD TO ASK FOR WASHCLOTH'S AND WATER BOTTLES WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED SO... WE'D RETURN IF THESE CONCERNS WERE ADDRESSED PROPERLY .

Great location. All employees were pleasant. Only negative was the property could use some tender loving care-----painting of lots of scuff marks, staff picking up used room service dishes in a more timely manner, etc.

The exposed light bulb hanging from the roof allowed us to see the paint patch which was semi-gloss when the rest of the wall was eggshell. The commode are had peeling paint and the door jambs had been painted over. This was probably a nice place 30 years ago.
