I had a good time in Savannah. Everything about the hotel bed, tv and shower were fine. The room was clean. The staff especially the valet were friendly cooperative and helpful.

I guess the only negative at the Desoto was getting stuck in the elevator. Hey, mechanical breakdowns can happen anytime anywhere. The bottom line is that hotel management took care of us to our satisfaction and everything is fine. The hotel did right by us and get my recommendation for future visits.

Concierge was extremely helpful as was outdoor staff. Indoor staff was very busy. I needed a toothbrush and was told one would be delivered to room but never was. Location was great, wish we’d been just a little closer to old town amenities. A little too far to walk although there were many pubs and parks nearby. The history of the area was great to learn. Food was wonderful, never had a bad meal!

We had a good experience overall at the De Soto. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is in a perfect location. You can walk to everything. The concierge was very helpful with all our activities. We needed a handicap room and they didn't give us one at first. We did get a free breakfast for having to change rooms. I would definitely recommend this Hotel.

We took advantage of your offer at the De Soto hotel in Savannah this past weekend. We got married on Saturday and stayed three nights downtown in this beautiful hotel. It is close to everything,.. shopping and restaurants and so many things to do. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous with a breathtaking view of the city. The lounge downstairs is comfortable and perfect for a late night drink when returning to the hotel. The staff is incredible. Everyone from the valet to the front desk to the housekeepers were all so friendly and helpful. We can't wait to return!

My sister and I stayed at the DeSoto on our first trip to Savannah and loved it. Everyone is lovely and the room was quite nice. Loved the location—quieter than staying along the river (so we have heard from others) and is conveniently situated between river and Forsyth Park. Also close to free DOT trolley stops.
One thing to note: as they tell you at check-in, you need to request housekeeping services, which is fine. if you want more coffee, be sure to tell them when you make that request as they don’t check.

Three friends and I scheduled our trip around the spring garden & house show and my 80th birthday. The DeSoto was an ideal location to walk to our destinations and the River Walk. We relaxed sitting on the front covered porch overlooking Liberty St as well as strolling in the many squares with shade trees and benches. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast at 1540 was very good with the best coffee.

Everything was good but all the beds were too high for aged people. I could not get into bed as I had hip surgery 6 months ago. Even the handicap room bed was high. I ask for a foot stool so I could get into the bed but they could not get me one. Slept on a chair all night. Not very comfortable

Travelzoo offered a great price for this hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful when needing advice on finding a ride cheaper than Uber to places outside of Savannah. Requests for cleaning were promptly taken care of. We enjoyed the centralized location being a quick 10 minute walk to River Street or Forsythe Park. A great variety of restaurants are within a couple blocks, as well as a restaurant/bar and coffee/pastries/snacks onsite. The hotel is right on Liberty Street and with it being an older hotel the street sound can be loud at times.

We liked the location of the hotel. We were able to walk nearly everywhere we went in Savannah. We were not pleased that we could not get coffee until 7 am. There was no coffee maker or microwave in the room. There was no ice bucket or glasses.

We stayed at the DeSoto for one week while vacationing in Savannah. We had a special booking rate through Travelzoo which made this hotel affordable. Check-in was very good! Our room was ready early; Frank was extremely helpful with our luggage and parking. We were only disappointed that we were switched without any comment to a room with 2 double beds instead of the King bed we had booked. The view was beautiful, though. Hardwood floors, single pane glass, and space around the door to the room made the room permeable to more noise than expected. Room was clean. We needed a small refrigerator for my husband's medication, and staff provided this (it wasn't automatically in the room). Staff were good about checking in with us and helping us with anything needed. Location was fantastic! Close to great restaurants, the Dot shuttle; everything was walkable. Ended up parking near Forsyth Park to avoid the $40 per night valet parking. Would stay here again!

We paid extra for a city view room with a balcony. There was a balcony, but it had no furniture on it. We were next to the elevator, and could hear it moving up and down all day and night. There was construction on the exterior of the building and the drilling started at 8:45 one morning and 9:15 the next morning. We were not told about the construction when we booked, or even when we checked in. We were not impressed, and will not be back.

Room was dated. Lots of smudges and does not look clean. Simple presentation. No bathroom floor mat provided. Elevators had expired inspection (July 2022). The attached restaurant 1540 does not answer their phone. I asked the front desk to contact restaurant but they don't have a form of comms with them and front desk cannot leave the desk to walk to restaurant a few feet away. Valet parking is $38 while Public garage is $14 max daily.

The staff of the hotel including valet and concierge and maintenance were all very nice. The hotel was beautiful and offered breakfast and bar. We got coffee downstairs. The room was nice with a great view. The balcony didn’t have any furniture and the room was small but it was nice. There could be some cosmetic updates in the bathroom though. But otherwise great.

Very nice place with friendly staff. The only issue was they were doing renovations on the exterior which included drilling right outside our room. I called the desk and requested a room away from the work area and they were able to accommodate us. My only complaint was if they knew this work was taking place, why not give us a room away from the noise initially? Occupancy was low during our stay, so an alternate room was easily available.

We travel to Savannah/Tybee Island about 3 times per year and have enjoyed staying at the DeSoto in the past and enjoyed our stay this time very much as well. Great location within walking distance to all that we wanted to see in Savannah and would definitely stay here again.

The DeSoto had a great and friendly staff at check-in and during our stay. Room was very comfortable and had all that we needed for our stay. The only flaw to the room was that the electrical outlet in the bathroom would not keep a hair dryer plugged in and needed to be replaced. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay very much.

The DeSoto was our home base for one of the best vacations we’ve ever had. The staff was phenomenal. Every encounter during our five night stay was extremely positive and helpful. The restaurant, coffee shop, bar/speakeasy, valet, front desk staff and Becki the concierge made the DeSoto feel like home! Mom needed the help of a wheel chair to enjoy the city and nearby restaurants, shopping and attractions. While the hotel did not have one currently (please get a few!) we were helped quickly to a service that dropped one off at the hotel. The location was perfect! Foodies will delight at the choices to dine within walking distance. Mass at St. John the Baptist a block away. Eclectic readers will delight in E Shavers Bookstore across the street. Walks around Forsyth Park are steps away. Uber/taxis always under three minutes. The Hotel was clean and fresh while being historic with views of the city. Though in the heart of Savannah, it was quiet and tranquil. Thank you DeSoto for your warm hospitality and elegant lodgings.

Overall the DeSoto is a nice older hotel. The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. I understand that the hotel is a little older and take that into consideration when reviewing our room. The sliding glass door was in bad shape and very hard to lock. Also the blind that come down over the door were dirty and damaged.

Paid for an upgrade so I could have a fridge, was told it had a mini freezer which I needed for ice packs for an injury but it did not, this was why I upgraded. Room had furniture crammed in where it shouldn’t have been, too much for this size room. Front desk never answered phone but when we went downstairs lady was playing on her cellphone every time. We were told water was complimentary with upgraded room but didn’t receive. Toilet was dirty, urine around the seat when we arrived. Hard time finding the valet several times.

Easy accessibility to hotel from interstate. Beautiful location. Lovely hotel inside and out. Staff friendly. Room very comfortable with great views. Will return, no doubt. We didn’t even need our car the entire visit. We took Uber and there are cafes and other eateries closeby.

My wife the day before our arrival contacted the covid virus and had to call travelzoo to cancel our reservations. Spoke to Stacey and Linda at Travelzoo and were very understanding about our situation. Tried to rebook for another time but the hotel disapproved my request. Was so looking forward to this trip that I packed the car two days in advance. Travelzoo said they would try to retrieve my deposit from the Hotel but haven't heard anything at this time.

Great location, helpful staff, and the bar atmosphere was great. The room was spacious; the bathroom was a bit small but updated while still retaining historic charm. The restaurant serves elevated faire for dinner which I didn't have time to try but I did have breakfast and the meal was delicious with generous servings. The historic district of downtown Savannah is very walkable and the DeSoto is ideally situated. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm ever in Savannah again.

First time in Savannah. While we were not overwhelmed with the town itself, the DeSoto was a decent hotel in the middle of the historic district. Lots of reviewers state the rooms weren't in the best of shape, but the room we had, a 13th-floor King with balcony, did not disappoint. Sure, there are signs of age, but really, if you're spending all your time at the hotel worrying about those things, you're wasting your trip.

The room was nice however there were certain amenities that I thought would be there like a refrigerator. I was traveling with my infant granddaughter and it would have been nice to have. The location was great...we got all of our steps in this weekend.

A tub mat was not included with our bathroom setup. To ask for an extra set of towels, was a bit much. Instead of asking the room attendants, we had to call the front desk. The towels were in the hallway (not something that was good while in a pandemic. In the future asking the guest when your are back in your room, woukd have been more appropriate and covid safe.

Extremely disappointed. They gave us a room by the elevator which means constant noise. Specifically booked this hotel for the pool/poolside bar. Despite signage saying poolside service is open 1-7p there is none. Hotel bar doesn’t open until 4p. Basically couldn’t get food or drinks at the entire hotel around 3p in the afternoon. Very strange. Do not book here.

Great location. We walked to everything we wanted to do. Valet guys Frank, Charlie and Frank P were the best. Very friendly and excellent first impression. All the Hotel staff was very good.

Our room was a little tired. Plumbing was loose on the bathroom sink. Shower chalking was slightly moldy, and the shower base grout need more cleaning Ceiling by air vent was flaking paint and where they did repair the ceiling, they only painted the repaired area. Floors needed more cleaning and had paint flakes throughout. Sliding balcony door was tough to open. A little more TLC would go a long way.

We came for a weekend. The deal was way better than a b&b in the area. We were so happy with our stay. The location was just perfect. The room was a little sparse, no coffee or frig but we made due. The bed was super comfortable. The valet was reasonably priced and in a city like Savannah where street parking is hard to find, valet was a great bonus! We will book this trip again!

This was our first time to Savannah and this is the definition of true Southern Hospitality. We pulled up to valet and instantly were greeted by Charlie ! He welcomed us and guided us on what need to happen next . He went above and beyond to tell us recommended restaurants . He didn’t let us down. At the check in everyone had a smile and was more than happy to assist in any of our needs. Words to the wise don’t show up too early as the room won’t be ready ! It’s ok there’s plenty to do in the area . This is a definite place to book when visiting Savannah !

We enjoyed our stay, it was very pleasant. Nice, clean rooms. Only minor inconvenience was the lack of fridge and hairdryers, otherwise had everything we needed. We did not go, but the pool looked great. Would definitely go back.

We tried calling the front desk dozens of times in the evening on the day we checked out as we had left something behind. No one picked up. We eventually got through the next day, but it seemed ridiculous that no one was available at the front desk after 8pm.

GREAT location, the 1540 was delicious and the staff were really great. Our room seemed to still be under construction, or just recently finished but not cleaned. There were specks of paint on the floor, walls, side tables, desk, and dresser, little piles of plaster dust in the corners. The bathroom was very nice, and the bedding was comfortable. The balcony afforded amazing views of the sunset over Savannah. Altogether a good experience, looking forward to visiting again

The experience was good. We tried to check in early, but the room was not ready. The room was ready just before the 4PM check in. The room was clean and well appointed and the city view was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Chick in and out was easy. Valet parking was a bit hectic and took a bit longer than it should have but it was not a big deal.

The bathroom was filthy. We changed rooms, and the 2nd room’s bathroom was just as bad. We spoke with front desk agent who could careless and said she had never actually seen any room. We checked out immediately and had to scramble to find another place. Also, we drove past the entrance several times because the door at the entrance was taped up and there was no signage at the door. That along with the fact that the valet wasn’t present we thought the hotel was shut down. This was my daughter’s first time using TravelZoo, and not only was she appalled at property, she told me that not only will she will be contacting the hotel manager directly, she will never use Travel Zoo again and will advise to friends and family the same.

Room was rated lower because our air was out. We were able to open the windows to easily regulate the temperature in the room. I did not say anything to the front desk till checkout but I feel confident they would have done what was needed to fix the situation if I had reported it sooner.

The room & scenery from 9th floor was beautiful. It was odd not have regular soap to use at bathroom sink. There was a soap dispenser in shower but after one nt & day and 2 people, it was empty, Usually hotels offer small bars of soap to use-none. It would’ve been ice to have a small refrigerator in the room for guests staying more than one night. Keeping ice in a cooly bag for leftovers & perishable snacks wasn’t ideal. All in all , the beds were comfortable & clean. The heat was on in the lobby & it was stifling hot.
