Room was clean with an updated bathroom with all shampoo, soap, etc. provided; despite being next to an elevator shaft it was nice and quiet; bed was comfortable; my only suggestion on the room is a carpeting upgrade. Staff was friendly and helpful; Douglas, one of the doormen, was helpful and accommodating regarding luggage storage and scheduling a car to the airport. There were delays with the elevators during high traffic periods. Overall, a very nice, convenient hotel by any standards.

Very comfortable one-night stay, after two nights in an absurd hipster-hotel with terrible service where I was given a room (to myself) with four bunk-beds. This made me appreciate the value of a tried-and-trusted hotel like the Hilton Garden Inn, which not only has comfortable beds and the amenities you'd expect from a hotel, but wonderfully friendly staff. I've stayed before, I'll stay again, and I'd recommend it as a very solid option to anyone looking to stay near theaters/Central Park.

They gave up our room that I had booked 6 months prior and had digitally checked into the prior day. When we arrived at the hotel to get our key because our digital key was having issues, we found out they did not have our specific room available they said instead of two queen beds with a view they had two full size beds with a view. When I explained we had 4 people and could not take a smaller room, “well what do you want me to do build you a room?” The staff was so rude and unaccommodating, they told me I would hear back from the manager the following day and heard nothing. The location was amazing but the staff was horrible.

Other Comments
1. It was very difficult to reach the Front Desk over the phone from our room. They rarely asnwered.
2. The main hall ceiling fixture in our room was burned out. Seems that should have been noticed when the room was cleaned before our stay.
3. The safe did not work. Whoever was in the room before us did not reset it. That hadn't been checked after the previous guests checked out.
4. When we eventually did reach someone at the Front Desk to ask that the light fixture and safe be fixed, they said to tell whoever came with the extra tissues that we requested. I don't understand why the Front Desk can't tell Facilities or whoever could fix the safe and replace the light bulb, and don't understand what they expected the runner who brought the tissues to do about it. We were told someone would come in 10-15 minutes, but they hadn't before we had to leave 30 minutes later, so we just left. The light bulb was replaced when we returned at the end of the day, so I'm guessing whoever cleaned the room that day reported it.
5. When I came back with drinks from a nearby Starbucks I realized that I'd forgotten to get a straw for one of the drinks. I asked the staff person at the Front Desk if I could get a straw, and was told that the restaurant had gotten "stingy" and would not allow that. She suggested that I ask the food truck vendor on the corner. I don't understand why the Hilton can't spare a straw, and instead suggested that I ask a street vendor for a straw, without having purchased anything from them. Seems the Hilton is better positioned to spare a straw than a food truck vendor. (I went back to the Starbucks to get a straw.)
6. The "C" level, where the fitness center is, smelled like a basement.
7. I don't understand why the hotel charges $75 a day for its guests to "self-park" at the parking garage across the street, when that garage is 30% cheaper if you park there without mentioning the hotel.

Of their three elevators, one was out of service for "at least a month". The remaining two elevators were also shared with the maids , maintenance and cleaning staff, so the elevators would often be full with carts and such, and would have to go down two floors first to the maintenance area before coming back to the ground floor. We were luck enough to be on the 3rd floor - since we requested that after observing the backup for the elevators in the lobby during check-in - which took over 30 minutes. We ended up using the stairs most of the time, since waiting for the elevator usually took a long time. The hair conditioner container in the shower was empty when we checked in, and remained empty even after asking at the desk for it to be filled. The TV remote was apparently possessed by demons. Even after having the batteries replaced, it would randomly stop functioning, or even turn off the TV when all you were doing was changing the channel. Very frustrating.
The room was also very tight for two queen beds- even by NYC standards.

Just wanted to leave a quick review. We appreciate the location of this hotel. It was marvelous! They held our luggage at check-in, and a checkout, which was quite nice. There were a few housekeeping items where things broke, but Ujwala, from the front desk was quick to offer breakfast for the inconvenience. The breakfast was delicious and well worth the inconvenience. ;). Even though we had some problems, I would still give the staff and the location, along with the facilities of five-star review.

We booked a Travelzoo Top Ten deal. Conveniently located between Broadway and 8th Ave, this hotel was adequate for our needs. I am glad that I read reviews that mentioned issues with the elevators. They are small, and there are only three of them. We chose a room on the third floor for this reason, and used the stairs a few times. We were very grateful that the stairs were an option for us when we checked out, as four elevators passed us by packed to the gills with people and luggage. The room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping is only every two days, unless you request otherwise. This was fine with us as our needs were few. Had we not brought our own toiletries, upon check-in we would have needed the shampoo dispenser to be filled as it was completely empty. These reasons are enough for many people to give a hotel a bad review. We roll with the punches and honestly were not inconvenienced at all considering we were in one of the busiest cities of the world. If you expect a more upscale experience, this is not the hotel for you. But if you just need a clean place to lay your head and minimal service, it will do just fine.

The check in process for our 2 rooms was frustrating and chaotic. Also, we were not informed that housekeeping is provided every other day so we had to wait in line for a 4th time at the desk to have this explained. The hotel seems poorly managed. Of particular note were the elevators. At one point, only one of three elevators was working. It was rare when all three were. This is a 30+ story hotel. Unacceptable. Also, it took repeated requests to receive something as basic and essential as bath gel for the shower. Ours was nearly empty when we checked in. This should be part of the housekeeping checklist. This property has a lot going for it, including pleasant, though not always successful staff.

I needed to be in a central location to do research at a Midtown archive. I’ve lived in New York before and was expecting a tiny room and was thrilled to find a full size bathroom what I consider a very large New York hotel room with microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. I was super comfortable. There was even a desk, which was really essential for me since I was working.

The hotel was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly. The Location can’t be beat the size of the room as I said above is really large for a New York City hotel. I was given a room on with no air conditioning. The manager's suggestion to her staff member at the desk was to give me a fan and to tell me to open the window. The staff member, however, did not listen to his boss and gave me a new room. He also showed me a list that he was given of rooms with HVAC issues, with my original room listed, along with the instructions not to assign those rooms to Hilton Gold or Platinum members. The air conditioner in the new room did work, but not well and I spent a very uncomfortable night there. I will not go back to that hotel and will probably avoid Hilton properties as the customer service supervisor on their 800# was very rude and dismissive when I called to complain.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the 54th Street Hilton Garden Inn in New York City, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience thanks to the exceptional service provided by Maranda, the Hilton Associate that was working at the desk.
From the moment I walked in, Maranda's professionalism and friendliness set the tone for my stay. Despite encountering a couple of minor issues, Maranda went above and beyond to rectify them swiftly and efficiently with the assistance of Harisson and maintenance employees , ensuring that my stay was nothing short of perfect.
Not only did Maranda address the problems with ease, but she also took the time to ensure that I felt valued as a guest. Each morning Maranda greeted me by name despite the fact the hotel was fully booked during my stay. Her attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction truly exceeded my expectations.
I cannot recommend the Hilton Garden Inn New York highly enough, especially with staff members like Maranda who truly embody the spirit of exceptional customer service. Because of Maranda I have asked my wife to change her reservation at the Marriott to the Hilton in July despite the fact that I have a Titanium status with Marriott and Silver at the Hilton.
