Check in was a breeze, the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was well appointed and we even got to use our record player. The happy hour was a nice touch and the restaurant on premise was very good as well. We would definitely stay there again.

Ed checked us in, nothing but excellent service...gave us a quiet room with nice view, offered coffee in the room, coupon for free appetizer upon knowing we had reservation at Abaca. Come check out, the ff day as we only did a staycation for hubby's bday, blond lady at front desk... forgot to get her name, only gave us additional 30 minutes of extended stay after I said we are having brunch at their resto. She said that tho I'm IHG member, I can't avail of 2pm check out a i booked with Travelzoo. Went back to the room a lil past 11 to meet 1130 check out but room key won't work. She didn't even bother to extend the access at all.

there is not enough light in the units, bathroom lighting is too dark and it's hard to do make up and hair. Similarly since the unit was on the 2nd floor, and facing another building across, it was not practical to keep the blinds open so one was forced to keep them closed for the most part and that too meant that unit was too dark at all times.

I stayed the evening at the Alton because I didn't want to drive the 90 minutes home at night following a work obligation in the city (Dogpatch neighborhood). The deal offered by TZ at the Alton was too good to pass up. I really just stayed for one night: took a shower, slept and left the next morning. It is evident the Alton is an older property. And the photos online did not match the hotel in real life. Still, it was a pleasant enough stay and the staff was very nice.

I was surprised at the neighborhood driving to the Alton. It appeared so lovely online but the surrounding area is not so sparkly. The staff was very friendly though and valet parking is convenient and quick. I'm dedicated to Kimpton Hotels so I will always give them a priority when choosing where to stay.

Prior to check in we called and asked about late checkout at 2pm .We were we told because we were told because we had joined the IHG members rewards that if available no problem. Again when we checked in we asked the very helpful blonde female staff member about 3pm checkout, she said if available. Since no could check in till 4pm there should not be a problem. The next day again at 10:30am we asked at the front desk about 2pm check out . A very rude white male said No we are fully booked . I explained that we were enrolled membership and had already asked and were told since no one could check it our room until 4pm what the problem ? He then rudely said while when's house cleaning suppose to clean the room . I said at 2pm . He replied gladly just pay for another day . I said that's unacceptable as a member. Then his excuse was i didn't book the room on their website . I'm sorry I didn't get his name ,everyone else was so wonderful. The hotel was beautiful, services were great . I made this reservation for my son. I called in advance to tell them that he would be using my credit card to pay. The guy said no problem and was super nice. My son got there and the receptionist treated him like a criminal. Said she wouldn't accept it. She told him to get out of line until he figured it out. He couldn't believe how horrible she was. He said she was angry. He did not get out of line and had to use his card. He called me when he was dealing with her and she was very rude. He got there on the 18th.

Check in, valet, atmosphere were all great. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Our only “complaint” was the view. Our window looked out to the garbage processing area. We just didn’t open the blinds.

Great experience! Amazing offer. Modern, updated rooms, great gym, and well reviewed restaurant off the main lobby. Love that there is a vinyl record collection available to take up to the turntable in each room. Close to many attractions while also quiet at night.

This is our 2nd booking with Kimpton Alton via Travelzoo. The location is perfect; it’s walking distance to Pier 39. All the staff especially Edwin is very accommodating. The room has exercise mat and umbrella. The staff provided dog bowls for our service dog, and even dog bed (even we dont need it). There’s also happy hour every 5-6 which serves unlimited drinks. This hotel made our stay really enjoyable. Thank you Kimpton Alton.

We had a lovely stay at the Alton in mid-November. The hotel is classy and exuded luxury. Everything feels VIP and the room was so quiet - no sound from the city or neighboring rooms. There is a nightly beer and wine happy hour and you can get records at the front desk for the in-room record players. The hotel has great proximity to everything - you can walk anywhere! The staff were great and valet was easy to use.

Room selection. I told the front desk clerk that I was a light sleeper and experienced quite a bit of street noise on the last visit. She assured me the room selected would not have the same issue. It did.
