Why We Love This Hotel

  • Right on the Brudenell River, with a marina for launching boats and canoes
  • The resort sits between two 18-hole championship golf courses, offering more than 13,000 yards of play
  • Hop in the saddle for a horseback ride over the sweeping terrain
  • Free Wi-Fi and parking for all and a balcony in many rooms

Overview

Prince Edward Island's provincial parks reward outdoorsy types in spades with their broad offerings of adventurous activities and family fun. The Rodd Brudenell River Resort borders the namesake provincial park, which is one of the largest on the island's east side. It cozies around the shores of the Brudenell River, which guests can explore by kayak or canoe, or from the decks of a boat moored at the on-site marina.

Golfers will find plenty of greens to swat around on as there are two 18-hole golf courses neighbouring the resort, each offering emerald fairways that unfurl among ponds and gardens. The resort also offers horseback riding, lawn bowling and tennis (based on seasonality). If the river is too bracing, dip in the heated indoor and outdoor pools, then unwind with a massage or body wrap that incorporates Aveda products. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, and many have a private balcony with views of the pool or the river. Kids 10 and under eat free from May-October.

This is my third visit in 3 years, a lovely hotel. Only negative issue was, again this year, a difficult check in. Do not try to check in before 3 pm. As the area is quite remote, there is not much to do if you arrive early. Last year we hung by the pool but heavy rain this year left us sitting in our car for 2 hours waiting for a text advising when we could check in. The text never came & we waited another 30 minutes in the lobby with a bunch of other travellers experiencing the same issue. On a positive, the bar food was excellent! Try the chicken tacos- recommendation from our server that did not disappoint. This is a great place to take a family.

scenery, golf courses

The location is beautiful, junior suites are pleasant and spacious, furniture a bit dated but comfortable. We had issues with our key demagnetizing every time we reentered the annex building. The golf courses were in very good condition, scenic, and very enjoyable to play.

Great round of golf.
Other Comments
Staff were great to change room away from indoor pool. Could be more informative. Great if bar was open in hotel or dining room. Building lacks services and vibe. Very dead in main building. Carpets in rooms need to be replaced. When I turned over the gripping tub math it had mould from lack of cleaning. Not hard to clean with a bit of effort. Refrigerator in room was great.

Well kept property with pools, trails, golf and great staff.
Other Comments
Their main restaurants are closed which was inconvenient. Luckily, Georgetown is only a short drive.

It was central for our golf games and to tour the island.

Indoor pool and hot tub were great!
Other Comments
My only complaint is that the restaurant is not inside the hotel. It's a short walk (less than a minute) but not ideal in inclement weather.
