Really sexy makeover of the standard motel experience, turning a bland former structure into an HGTV inspired very hip spot. Amazing value, and a lot of fabulous amenities, plus pet friendly. The sausages were a nice touch, and very kitschy.

The rooms are sparsely lit, and, while the bed was fantastic, the furniture was a little low and slightly uncomfortable. But the overall vibe was great.

Light in room didn’t work, dog in room next to us barked and kept hitting the door to adjacent room. No hot water . Soap dispenser didn’t have soap, lotion dispenser didn’t have lotion. The staff, with the exception of Brian were helpful.

Great location, nice big room they upgraded us to (but right above the bar/restaurant, so there was some noise to deal with…)

Staff was aloof and not friendly…I was asked if I wanted text messages and I said No but got them anyway, I filled out the breakfast card with the time I wanted circled both days we stayed-it was brought way before and left outside the room…luckily it was there when we returned from a morning swim…also called the receptionist and requested that coffee not be delivered while we were unable to get the door…the guy came anyway and interrupted my husband’s shower! The communication was not there…they ask but don’t bother to see what you’ve answered-and act on it—they just do what they want!

The hotel pays a lot of attention to details. The property has character and charm. The fire pits were always lit and ready for you to enjoy, the pool was large and the spa clean. The rooms were super clean. The hotel is also pretty well located with restaurants and groceries store walking distance.

Staff was consistently friendly. We were contacted prior to our arrival and offered the option of a first floor or second floor room and informed of the stairs only access to the second floor. We received messages during our stay asking how it was going and were verbally apologetic about the issues. Small Continental breakfast is delivered to the room each morning in a to-go bag. Central courtyard has fire pits, native plants, strung lights, sizeable pool and got tub. Property and room were very clean. Lobby is pleasant, has brochures and magazines with local information. A toaster is available for the morning bagel along with tea and coffee. A food truck with sausages and fries is on the property most nights at the bar/lounge. My husband enjoyed it. The second floor room has vaulted ceilings, comfortable furniture, a secure balcony, and blackout curtains (which work well to block out the all-night security lights for the courtyard and all balconies and patios. The room has a working mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker, which can also heat water for tea. The bathroom toiletries were very nice and high quality. The TV is connected to Dish Network and provides numerous basic cable channels. Overall, the property is charming and convenient. Management and training is lacking.

Our room had several maintenance issues that we inquired about immediately and it became clear nothing would be rectified during our stay. Only 4 hangers although there were hanging holders for 4 more (they would not provide the missing ones), a bracket in the bathroom with a missing towel hook next to the towel bar (they treated that as normal), a ripped sliding screen door that wouldn't close and latch properly, and a leaky toilet that ran almost continuously. Another room was not offered even though they were not full. Perhaps the other rooms were in worse shape...or this is what they give to "Travelzoo Special" guests. We opted to stay at the property in the room with issues and make the best of it. The running toilet was the only issue that got there attention. A maintenance person showed up unannounced to fix it when it was not convenient to allow him in. I had to tell him 3 times through the door that it was a bad time, we were getting dressed. He finally said "Ok, I will leave you alone." That was the only attempt to address the issues. Our last morning we didn't have hot water for a shower and it wasn't going to be addressed until check-out time. No solution was presented. Our last memory is no hot shower the day we left. Also, the hotel is adjacent to the highway with noise from traffic and large trucks. Upon check-in, we were shown a map to our room. We asked about the highway noise and it was shrugged off and we were told the room has "noise cancelation". The highway noise comes through the outside access door loud and clear all day and night. The "noise cancelation" referred to a "white noise" machine provided in the room. Useless. Running the air conditioner helped. The bathroom has a sliding barn door that needs to be loudly slammed to shut properly. Not pleasant if the bathroom is used during the night. Given the numerous unacceptable issues we encountered, service recovery should be extended. I don't go on vacation to report and fix standard maintenance issues. More initiative to maintain hospitality standards should be taken.

Great place convenient to Santa Barbara and wine country. We enjoyed local town of Solvang and the beautiful landscape. The motel itself is nicely renovated... pool, fire pits, and courtyard area were wonderful. Rooms had nice ambience, beds were comfy. Door to bathroom did not latch and we notified the staff upon checkout. Breakfast brought to your door was really nice. Wish they had gluten free bagel or muffin options. Would definitely stay here again.

TV did not work for the two days we stayed there--.even after staff tried to reprogrammed it, So we missed watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics Sunday night. Very disappointed. Manager offered a $15 adjustment to bill but we're still waiting to see a credit on our credit card........ Other than that, we really liked the pool and daily breakfast bag offered.
