"The epitome of Hamptons chic" -- Town & Country

Why We Love It

  • "Everything is decorated like the beach house of your dreams" (Town & Country)
  • Walk to restaurants, galleries and shops on Sag Harbor's Main Street
  • Complimentary parking, plus beach shuttle, chairs, umbrellas and towels

A waterfront inn with a 50-year history, Baron's Cove reopened in 2015 after an extensive two-year renovation. This charming property features a breezy front porch, wood-burning fireplaces, harbor-view dining and renovated rooms that once hosted John Steinbeck, Paul Newman and Art Garfunkel.

Work up a morning sweat in the new fitness center before relaxing into a shaded lounge chair next to the new pool. Pool attendants will be nearby to take your lunch or cocktail order.

Or head to the beach -- it is the Hamptons, after all -- on the inn's complimentary shuttle. Guests can spend a day on the sand with Baron's Cove beach chairs, umbrellas and towels.

Guests can borrow a bicycle and spend the day exploring the quaint town. Called the "un-Hampton" by its fans, Sag Harbor is a laid-back former whaling port on the Shelter Island Sound. Its lively 19th-century Main Street -- a five-minute walk from the inn -- is lined with restaurants, shops and galleries, as well as the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum.

2nd floor lofts are tough for senior citizens in that the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is down stairs.

Rooms were nice. Great location. Friendly staff. Nice that they let you use the bikes and stuff for the beach.

We had a few mishaps but they were accommodating. First night for three adults they had us in a room with a king size bed. They gave us a cot and the next day they moved us to a different room. People who turned down our beds did not shut the door all the way. Didn't clean our room one day. Few little hiccups but I still would go back

Comfortable bed and pleasant view of the harbour.

Overpriced Motel with poor acoustics between rooms and to the outside open deck corridor. Room had a small bed platform accessed via steep set of stairs making a trip to the bathroom a real hike. The bathroom had no bath which is surprising at this price level and there was no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. No breakfast included -again surprising considering the price.

The general manager Tara was professional and delightful to deal with.

Our room was between very loud people. Further, it seems they are living off their old reputation. The walls are quite thin as we could make out every single word of conversation in the room next door. Odd that there was no laundry bag for dirty clothes, even cheap motels give that. The mini bar in the room was bare, not a single item to eat. After having to change rooms because the people on our right woke us at 2:40 AM!!! And the people to our left woke us at 6:15 AM speaking so loud and blaring the tv...our next room had no heat. The heat unit in our loft Sleeping area was broken and the electrician couldn't fix it! It was in the 40's at night, very, very cold!!!
