Overview
The signature restaurant Cabin is named after the first structure built on the property in 1865. Various room types are available, including Premier Resort Rooms and two-level Executive Suites, with a sleeping area on the upper level and a spacious lower-level living area with gas fireplace. A large number of rooms include balconies with views of the valley and the golf course, which was designed by Canadian course architect Thomas McBroom.
During summer months, the resort’s two-acre garden provides fresh ingredients for on-site restaurants. At Cabin, guests can share dishes of warm olives and almonds and enjoy seasonally-inspired entrees. Babbo, the lively lounge and bar located in the hotel’s lobby, has an extensive wine list featuring Ontario whites from Niagara, Prince Edward County and the resort’s own vineyard, Adamo Estate Winery.
Not to be overlooked is the 15-trail ski and snowboard resort with expanded terrain park, open day and night during the winter season. Guests will also find many cross-country ski and snowshoeing trails.

We have been to Hockley Valley several times and it is always an enjoyable experience. A couple things that were a little disappointing. The free bottle of wine needs to be picked up a the winery which is not on site. The winery was not open during the time window when we used this stay, so this was not an option. I was hoping that we could switch from 2 queen to 1 King bed, as the hotel was nearly empty on the night of our stay; however, this was going to come with an additional cost. These 2 items were a little disappointing, but otherwise, it was a good stay.

The resort is starting to look a little tired in places, but good bed, good food and generally very pretty ambiance and atmosphere at hotel. We will go again for sure.

Very Friendly staff, but no one called me back in regards to Baboo restaurant prior to departure. Once we got to the hotel staff was wonderful. Terrific buffet breakfast included, beautiful grounds, clean hotel, well kept

We informed the front desk that there was an intermittent knocking sound in the washroom wall in our room. After looking into it and being unable to resolve it, they upgraded us to a different, quiet room, which we appreciated. We also enjoyed the free wine tasting and complimentary bottle of wine offered by Adamo, as well as the breakfast buffet at the resort.

Please see the positive comments below. However, we were quite disappointed in dining options offered by the resort. The main restaurant, cabin, was closed. We thus had to eat in the bar which was overrun by an extremely loud, corporate group that had clearly had much to drink. One of their members used the f-word constantly. That group eventually moved on to their dinner, but was replaced by a second one. Not a pleasant atmosphere for our dinner. We were left with the impression that the resort caters to corporate groups, rather than individual guests. Understandable, given the state of the economy, but it's unfortunate that both groups can't be accommodated. The menu was overpriced for the pasta portions it served, even by Toronto standards. I was looking forward to a swim the next morning. I headed downstairs to the pool, only to find it was closed for "maintenance purposes".

Very nice place to relax, great view and close to the city, not too far to drive. Only thing we didn’t like is the pool very small and also the public washroom has this sewage smell even though it looks new.

The place is exceptional and beautiful and the staff was great. Huge potential. It needs a really deep clean from the front desk area chandeliers to the washroom base boards. But the bones are there and the vibrancy will return. It would be overly to have a walking trail from the resort to the winery.

Overall we enjoyed our time at Hockley Valley Resort.
Pros:
- Golf course and gorgeous scenery
- Comfortable (but simple) room
- Great experience at the wine tasting (passes included with Travelzoo package)
- Awesome breakfast buffet!
Cons
- Booked dinner reservation with front desk agent, but it was made at the wrong on-site restaurant so they were not prepared for us. We luckily got a table from another group that did not show up.
- Poor service at dinner.
- Very poor quality for price of dinner. Prawn risotto was served cold, was a very small portion with hardly any seafood and overall not satistying - not at all worth the $37!

I had requested a room that was on the golf course side but didn't get it. I never bothered asking again. The tv is tiny and the quality of the channels isn't that good. We had to move our car after receiving a call but the lot still had cars when we left hours after. Other than that it was nice.

We had a wonderful stay at Hockley Valley resort. They had a wonderful indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna which the family enjoyed. In addition the gym and games room had everything needed.
Customer service was mediocre except for a couple of staff members that went above and beyond. We were told upon arrival we’d be called when our room would be ready - that never happened. The room we were given wasn’t the best so we requested to move and the final room was far better. That said, the door had some issues in terms of ease of closing.
I spoke with the front desk clerk about hikes that could be done from the resort. She wasn’t the friendliest or the most helpful.
Otherwise, I’d say the winery experience was terrific and breakfast was outstanding.
Not sure it was worth the total cost we paid. Perhaps if there was a spa credit inclusion or voucher for rebate on dinner I could say we would’ve got our moneys worth. Still worth the city escape.

Loved the added wine tasting to the package. It was a great experience. The food is very expensive at the Cabin restaurant and the portions small. What was disappointing was that we mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and no one wished us any happy returns.
Breakfast was an experience, the server seemed to be having a bad day. No time for chit chat, rushing us through our meal and bringing us the tab before we were even done eating. The showers in the room are very dated, they need to be updated.

The first evening we enjoyed our time with a group that we met at the fire pits. The second evening we were planning on returning to the same location to enjoy an evening coffee but, unfortunately, were told that the fires are only lit when there is a corporate event. We were truly disappointed and felt that all of the guests would enjoy chatting and making s’mores in the evening. I hope that Hockley will update their policy and light the fire pits nightly!!

It was a girl friends getaway to a beautiful location. The package was good value
for money. The wine tasting was a fun experience. The only disappointing fact
was 2 of the 3 restaurants were closed Mon/Tues so limited food choices
forcing us to locate an alternate dinner venue. Fortunately, we did nearby.

Our room wasn't really that clean. A dress had been left in a drawer. Hotel is dated. Our TV didn't work, picture was all scrambled. It was very, very busy - at least 3 weddings so breakfast on first day was crazy busy. And there was a plank that looked to be holding up a balcony.

Everything was good except not enough front desk staff and no clear indication on where is what on site. Had to find out as to where the onsite amenities are located by walking around the premises on our own as having hard to ask just simple questions at the front desk and bike shop.
Other Comments
No one from the front desk was able to answer my questions about the HST charged. I asked Travelzoo agent after I received by booking confirmation and was told to ask the hotel. Neither the front desk agent I encountered when checked-in and checked-out was also to answer my question about the 15% HST charged (as my understanding was that Ontario charges 13 HST), they indicated that there were unclear as my booking was through a third party.

The housekeeping lady named Zoey, went above and beyond by insisting on setting up the extra towels and toiletries we requested in the bathroom for us. The spa service was also great. We had a great couples massage and my wife had a great pedi from Morray and Jenny.
Other Comments
The front desk was not helpful at all, the furniture and room were dated and dirty. The TV is so small for the price of the room. The person I dealt with that day was Tamara wa not very pleasant, unfriendly, and all she offered was "Sorry, it's this and that...". This is out of our request to check in a bit early on Sunday and check out a bit later the next day. She shut us down, told us to come back closer to 4 pm and gave an insincere apology without putting the effort in helping us. Spa equipments can also use updating.
