Around the corner from Place d'Armes, this Montreal hotel is a five-minute walk to Notre-Dame Basilica. It's sandwiched between the shopping and dining of downtown and the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal.

Furniture is run down and need replacement for sure. Had warm water and not hot. Reported it but no improvement. Breakfast is great & nightly drinks/snacks, good location.

The hotel was excellent, location is great! My only complaint is there is currently renovations going on so there is constant noise through the day. We were on the street side of the hotel which has load traffic noise. Having said that still a great hotel!!

The size of the room was good, I appreciated the cost of the room with 2 double beds, kitchenette, fireplace. I had significant concerns about the degree of dirt which i conveyed to the manager at checkout. We arrived later on Friday, about 6:30 and didn't get a good chance to see the room as we had reservations for dinner. In the morning we also had a full day with places booked so I didn't want to spend hours going to the desk to complain, changing rooms, or getting a cleaning done after the fact. Our mini holiday in Montreal was so short that time complaining would eat up too much valuable time with my daughters. i took photos that i shared with the manager. There was ++dust built up in most corners of the walls, floors, counters, fireplace, etc. I spent some time wiping down and placing papertowels on surfaces to place our belongings. The floor had long bits of fluff/dust in many areas, there was a left over hair elastic by the bed, one mattress had a stain on the side in clear sight, the floors under the bathroom counter and kitchen were filty, the tissue box was even dirty, the light fixures had cob webs, etc. I gave me an icky feeling. Fortunately the beds seems clean, but really the lighting was so dim i had to use a flashlight to see clearly, it was very hard to see at night. I have photos. The other concern was that before i booked this hotel i called in advance to ask if the breakfast can accommodate GF options, the lady said yes, just speak to the chef. HOwever, by Sat morning i realized that the many options for breakfast did not include anything to eat aside from eggs. The chef was asked, he said they didn't have any GF baked good or break but sent the server to tell me he would have it the next morning. Sun morning came and i approached the chef, he said sorry he didn't have anything, not sure why he assured me he woudl have something for me. I could have made other arrangements. Part of the cost of the hotel is the breakfast, i had to purchase from somewhere else. The manager apologized and said they do not accommodate for GF diets and i should not have been told that info. The manager Kelly was kind enough to offer a 10% credit and remove the $50/day fee for the third person, however, i honestly think for the price of the rooms (over $300/night) for a 4 star hotel and misleading information, the compensation could have been better. I expect a 4star hotel to be clean. I was told they are going through renovations, but that does not excuse the rooms being offered for the quality of renovated room to be dirty to the extend we experienced. I had never had a room so dirty actually.

If the room had been clean, regardless if it was renovated or not, i would have been satisfied. in the future i will ensure that I get a renovated room and know to check it in advance, unfortunately with booking in advance and committing to a hotel it's hard to change once we are there.

And we were able to stay in one of the renovated rooms on the third floor and it was one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever been in. The staff was friendly and helpful. The travel zoo deal was an amazing value for money. The location is great. About a 10 minute walk from the train station and five minute walk to old Montreal. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We loved our stay at the Embassy Suites through Travelzoo - the value was amazing for the king suite with a fireplace. The location, food, and service were incredible!
