Why We Love This Hotel

  • The rooftop showcases views of Charlottetown Harbour
  • The Confederation Centre of the Arts is half a block away from the hotel
  • Kids ages 10 and under eat free from May-October
  • Parking and Wi-Fi are complimentary (limited parking during summer months)

Combining old-world charm with modern convenience, Rodd Charlottetown was built in 1931. The interior conveys an attention to historic details, like the marble floors and vaulted ceiling in the lobby. Park your car for free in the lot then head to the roof, where views of Charlottetown Harbour are unparalleled. Pause here before heading to Chamber’s Restaurant for a meal, where kids ages 10 and under eat for free from May to October. Start the day with French toast and end with entrees like New York striploin and blackened Atlantic salmon.

Meet in the lounge for a drink before heading out to explore the charm of Prince Edward Island's historic capital.

During warmer months, attend a crab bake or spend time at the beach. From late June through August, the hotel is home to Feast Dinner Theatre, touted as “fun, fluffy musicals” by Fodor’s. The indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna are an inviting escape year-round.

As night approaches, relax in a guest room, where a mini fridge allows you to keep snacks and drinks on hand, while complimentary Wi-Fi access is ideal for staying in touch with friends and colleagues.

We had a very slight problem with our room in that we were suppose to be booked next to our friends room, while this was disappointing that we weren't, it was not a big deal. We went out for supper and when we returned there was a hand written card in our room letting us know that there was a bottle of wine for us. We were very touched by this thoughtful gesture.

Great location. The hotel was definitely showing signs of wear and tear but considering the price, was decent value for the money, In it's day, it would have been truly lovely.

The Rodd was a very nice older Hotel, right in the downtown area, walking distance to everything near the harbour. The restaurant was great with good food, and the workout facilities had enough equipment to get a good workout if you didn't want to miss a day.

We had. To get help with air conditioner as soon as we arrived. The first night my husband who has COPD was bothered by a musty kind of prof similar to mood. he thought might be coming from the air conditioner and there he had to get up about 3 in the morning and sit for a while on outdoor patio. He did not sleep well at all. I slept fine. The second night was much better. Next we were very bothered by the fact we had to put money in the parking meter every three hours. There wasn’t any other parking. We are elderly and don’t walk long distances. Could passes not be provided for guests to put on winsheild during their stay. We like to sleep later and not have to get up at 8 in the morning to put change in the meter. There must be a better system. For that reason. We would not choose The CHARLOTTETOWN Rodd again. The parking cost us $30.00. MARY and JOHN MacDonald 12 GREENOCH DRIVE DARTMOUTH NOVA SCOTIA B2X1H6 902-435-2616 marymac2
