About the resort
Hideaway is a five-star private island in Haa Alifu Atoll, in the far north of the Maldives, about 75 minutes from Malé by seaplane. Lush jungle meets powdery white beaches, and a butler looks after every guest from arrival. The Deluxe Water Villas sit on stilts over the lagoon, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a 30-square-metre infinity pool on the sundeck, and steps that lead straight down into the water. The four-bedroom Sultan Beach Residence sleeps eight and includes its own pool and slide. Mornings start at Matheefaru, a sand-floored oceanfront restaurant with live cooking stations. Lunch might be wood-fired pizza or fresh lobster at Meeru Bar & Grill, where baby reef sharks and stingrays glide beneath the deck. In the evening, Samsara offers Asian fusion and teppanyaki on a terrace above the lagoon, while the Santorini-style Sunset Pool Café serves Mediterranean flavours by the infinity pool. Between meals, lounge by one of two infinity pools, unwind at Hideaway Spa, or send the kids to the Tender Hearts Kids Club for crab races and treasure hunts. It’s no surprise the resort was named Maldives’ Leading Honeymoon Resort at the 2024 World Travel Awards.
