Early spring brings clearer skies, lighter crowds and seasonal colour across Japan and Korea

Why We Love This Deal

Japan feels different at the beginning of spring. The air is cooler, the skies are clearer, and the country begins to wake from winter. This 12-night My Cruises holiday includes flights, hotel stays and a 9-night cruise on Norwegian Jade, sailing from Incheon to Tokyo. You begin with a night near Seoul, where palace grounds, markets and street food set the opening scene. Then the cruise moves through Jeju, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Beppu, Kochi, Nagoya and Shimizu before ending with two nights in Tokyo. The route gives you the range travellers usually chase by rail, without the station-hopping. Jeju adds a distinctly Korean natural chapter, with volcanic landscapes, waterfalls and dramatic coastline. Nagasaki and Hiroshima bring history and emotional weight. Fukuoka adds Kyushu’s food culture. Beppu shows Japan’s volcanic side through hot springs and steaming landscapes. Kochi brings a quieter slice of Shikoku, while Nagoya adds big-city energy and Shimizu gives the Mt Fuji moment. March is a smart time to go, with cooler temperatures before peak blossom crowds arrive. The balcony upgrade matters here, too, because the coastline is part of the journey. Drinks, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, gratuities, and shore excursion credit are included, so the value feels practical rather than decorative.

Our research found that you cannot put the lead package together for less. The featured lead price of $6490 saves members up to 36%, or $3635 per person. It already includes Travelzoo’s exclusive $1000 saving per booking on this holiday. That’s $500 off per person, with solo travellers receiving the same $500pp saving.

Itinerary highlights

You begin in Incheon, with a one-night stay, opening the gateway to Seoul. Palace complexes, shopping districts and layered neighbourhoods reveal a capital shaped by both tradition and pace.

On Jeju, lava fields, waterfalls and dramatic coastline create a raw natural landscape distinct from both Japan and mainland Korea.

Nagasaki brings hillside neighbourhoods, harbour views and layered international history. Peace memorials, churches and old trading quarters reflect one of Japan’s most complex port cities.

Hakata brings Fukuoka’s easygoing food culture, canal-side streets and lively markets. The Kanmon Strait adds a scenic passage between Honshu and Kyushu, with bridges, coastlines and passing ships framing the route.

In Hiroshima, peaceful memorials and waterfront parklands reflect the city’s resilience, while nearby islands and historic sites add another layer to the experience.

Beppu is one of Japan’s great hot spring towns. Steaming vents, mineral pools and the famous “hells” reveal Kyushu’s volcanic energy.

Kochi offers a rugged coastline, mountain scenery, and traditional markets, showcasing a quieter side of Shikoku rarely visited on larger itineraries.

Nagoya adds castle grounds, modern cityscapes and regional food culture, revealing one of Japan’s major industrial and cultural centres.

Around Mount Fuji, volcanic landscapes and forested slopes frame Japan’s most recognisable peak, with clear days offering striking views across the coastline and lakes.

The journey ends with two nights in Tokyo, where neon districts, historic temples and late-night food culture reveal a city constantly balancing tradition and modernity.
