About the itinerary

Day 1: Pack your bags and head to Sydney Harbour. Your cruise departs this evening at 6.45 pm.

Days 2-3: These two days will be spent at sea, settling into life onboard the Westerdam.

Day 4: You'll arrive in Nouméa, New Caledonia this morning. This French city is known for its Polynesian influence, vibrant tropical scenery, and diverse marine life. It has a rich history of cultural blending between the Kanak people and French settlers. While here, you could ride the Tchou Tchou Train, visit the Kanak Cultural Centre, or enjoy a panoramic drive through Nouméa.

Day 5: Today, discover Easo, the capital of Lifou in the Loyalty Islands. This picturesque and welcoming destination is known for its beautiful beaches, local markets, diverse landscapes, and cultural attractions. While here, you can explore the beautiful Jokin Cliffs, relax on white sandy beaches or learn about traditional Melanesian culture at the Notre-Dame de Lourdes Church.

Day 6: Arrive in Anatom today, also known as Aneityum or Mystery Island. This tranquil and remote island in Vanuatu offers pristine beaches, coral reefs, hiking trails, historic sites, and picturesque landscapes.

Day 7: Port Vila is the capital of Vanuatu and is located on the island of Efate. It is a bustling and multicultural city—a popular destination for visitors seeking a tropical island escape. Known for its picturesque bay, vibrant waterfront, and diverse range of activities, you can discover beaches, hiking trails, and waterfalls, take part in cultural experiences, or sample the city's culinary delights. 

Day 8: Today, you'll spend at sea, sailing toward the Fijian Islands.

Day 9: Experience a full day in Lautoka, one of Fiji's bustling port towns renowned for its colonial charm, century-old sugar mill, and mix of Muslim mosques and Hindu temples honouring the island's rich heritage. A short drive away lies the Koroyanitu National Heritage Park, with pristine hiking trails winding through an untouched cloud forest and offering breathtaking views of the Fijian islands.

Day 10: Today, visit Fiji's largest island, Viti Levu. This island is known for its stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality, making it a delightful destination for travellers seeking a tropical paradise experience. Here you could explore Suva's lively markets, relax on the Coral Coast's stunning beaches or trek through the lush rainforests of Colo-i-Suva Forest Park.

Day 11: Nestled on the south coast of Vanua Levu Island, Savusavu is a hidden paradise in Fiji. It is known for its picturesque harbour town with a bustling marina, stunning waterfront, and vibrant eco-tourism scene. Here, diverse aquatic activities, lush rainforest hikes, cultural visits, and charming historic landmarks offer a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure.

Day 12: You will cross the International Dateline on day 12. You will spend day 13 at sea, sailing toward American Samoa.

Day 13: Nestled on the shores of Pago Pago Harbor in Tutuila Island, the historic fishing village cluster of Pago Pago offers a stunning South Pacific setting, with a fjord-like harbour surrounded by lush hills and Rainmaker Mountain. Once chosen as a U.S. Navy fuelling station in 1872, the area blends serene surroundings with a mix of commerce and activity in places like Fagatogo and Utulei. While visiting, you can explore the scenic Pago Pago Harbor, hike up Mount Alava for panoramic views, and experience the historic charm of Fagatogo and Utulei.

Days 14-18: You'll spend these days at sea sailing toward Hawaii. On day 14, you'll cross the Equator.

Day 19: Say Aloha to Hawaii! Your Hawaiian discovery begins in Kona, on Hawaii's Big Island. Here, you can indulge in freshly brewed coffee in the coffee-growing region, visit historical sites such as Kamehameha's temple and Puuhonua O Honaunau, and experience exciting marine encounters with whales, spinner dolphins, and manta rays along the pristine Kona coast.

Day 20: Today, you will arrive in Hilo, where the contrasting elements of water and fire converge in a landscape of lush rainforests and volcanic coastlines. Here, the fiery lava of Kilauea volcano meets cascading waterfalls, while the town's history as a sugarcane hub echoes in its bustling commercial centre. While here, you could Experience the beauty of Waikiki's beaches, the awe-inspiring volcanic landscapes of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and the rich cultural heritage of Pearl Harbor, immersing yourself in the diverse attractions of Hawaii.

Days 23-27: Enjoy five relaxation-filled days onboard as you continue sailing toward Canada.

Day 28: Indulge in the charm of Victoria, British Columbia, by savouring high tea in a picturesque English garden, embarking on a whale-watching excursion, and exploring the city's First Nations culture, vibrant Chinatown, and iconic sites such as the Inner Harbour and Butchart Gardens. Enjoy a delightful day filled with cultural experiences, culinary delights, and scenic wonders during your visit to Victoria.

Day 29: You'll arrive in Seattle early this morning and begin your journey to Alaska at 3 pm.

Day 30: Today, you'll cruise through Puget Sound. Expect magnificent landscapes, diverse wildlife, and charming coastal communities dotting the shores.

Days 31-32: You'll spend these days at sea. On day 32, you'll be sailing through Stephens Passage in Southeast Alaska, a major shortcut with diverse wildlife and stunning scenery. It is a prime spot for whale-watching, with humpback whales and sea lions often seen. The deep waters of the passage are surrounded by towering mountains reaching heights of 1,500 meters, adorned with forests, meadows, and glaciers, creating a breathtaking landscape.

Day 33: Today, sail into Juneau, Alaska's capital city, famous for its striking natural beauty and abundant outdoor activities. Nestled amidst the sea, forests, and mountains, Juneau exudes a charming small-town vibe and offers stunning landscapes. Embrace outdoor adventures like glacier hiking and fresh seafood, and don't miss visiting the impressive capitol building. Juneau is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with chances to see deer and bald eagles on Mount Roberts and magnificent whales in Auke Bay. For an unforgettable experience, consider a floatplane tour to observe bears in the nearby wildlife reserves.

Day 34: Today, you'll spend the day onboard as you sail through Endicott Arm, a 30-mile fjord leading to Dawes Glacier in Tracy Arm-Fords Wilderness Area. Marvel at waterfalls cascading from mountain peaks, changing water colours, and bergy bits as you sail towards the glacier. Witness calving at the 600-foot-tall Dawes Glacier, capturing the stunning blue ice and thundering ice breaks. Keep an eye out for harbour seals, mountain goats, humpback whales, and bears in this wildlife-rich area. 

Day 35: Sitka, Alaska, stands out with its rich history and stunning scenery. Once the capital of Russian America, Sitka offers a glimpse into its past with landmarks like St. Michael's Cathedral and the Russian Bishop's House. Explore the Sitka National Historical Park and learn about Russian and Native Alaskan artifacts. Nature lovers can visit Castle Hill for views of Mount Edgecumbe, a dormant volcano, and explore the Fortress of the Bear and Alaska Raptor Center for up-close encounters with wildlife.

Day 36: Experience Ketchikan, Alaska, the 'First City' of the Inside Passage, known for its salmon-fishing industry and rich Native Alaskan culture. Explore totem poles at the Totem Heritage Center and Totem Bight State Park, and witness Tlingit culture at Saxman Village. Don't miss historic Creek Street for shopping and gold rush attractions. 

Day 37: You'll spend another day in glorious Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.

Days 38-40: You'll arrive at your final cruise destination this morning in Seattle. From the port, make your way to The Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel Seattle for a two-night stay before you catch your flight back home to Sydney. Seattle is a vibrant city in the Pacific Northwest known for its stunning waterfront views, food scene, and outdoor activities. While here, you could visit the iconic Space Needle for panoramic city views, explore the lively Pike Place Market for fresh produce and unique artisan goods, or take a stroll along the picturesque waterfront at Alki Beach.
