£79—Lancashire: 2-Night Break nr Pendle Hill w/Breakfast

The hotel is looking a bit tired now and the food was very mediocre but the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Staff friendly polite and helpful but felt place was understaffed. Wedding on . Had to chase up people to serve at bar and afternoon tea. On first day they didn’t know I was vegetarian and had to change sandwiches. They did it but a delay. Evening meal set menu and same both days we were there. Only one vegetarian choice and 3 others . Very limited. Quite basic . Breakfast much the best meal offered. Porridge and berries very nice and my husband enjoyed his English breakfast. Staff good about changing blackpudding for more bacon . Our room in annex and first impression was scruffy and sad! But that was just the bed. Small , mishappen mattress and holes in headboard with fabric hanging!! On further inspection decorating fresh . Decent carpet and room clean with nice view. Towel radiator didn’t work. Needed bleeding . We there 2 nights. Some one came in on first morning when we out. Didn’t make bed or change towels or clean. Left another sachet of coffee and single pack of biscuits. If that’s all they doing why come in? We have used many of the travelzoo deals and this was by far the worst. We made the best of it and were some good things but would not recommend or return

Hotel looking a little tired but fantastic value for money. Check in was confirmed at 2pm however room only became available at 3pm. Nice grounds for a stroll in a great location in heart of Ribble Valley. All staff were pleasant and accommodating and food was adequate. Afternoon tea was probably the star!

We were made to feel welcome at all times. All staff were friendly. It was comfortable & we enjoyed our meals.

One particular member of staff stood out. She was called Millie. She was very friendly & chatty. When I asked about the hotel & surroundings she offered to print us off an information sheet on its history. Later that evening asking if we found it interesting. She was both in reception & in the restaurant.

Overall the experience was very enjoyable. We booked a deal with an afternoon tea included which was good when we eventually got it however on the first day it was served 40 minutes late with no apologies and poor communication as to what was happening. On our second day everything was fine. The breakfasts and evening meals were good. We stayed in the annex rooms which were a short walk from the main building but had its own parking. The Annex entrance hall was a little tired with the stair treads worn on the edges. We had lovely views from our room over the valley to the hills in the distance and the room was a good size with ample storage. The heating didn't appear to be working so we contacted Reception to report it and within a very short time someone came over to fix the problem (boiler locked out) and also supplied a backup source of heat in case it happened again. We had fairly minor niggles with the room which we reported on the maintenance card provided such as curtain hanging off the rail due to lack of end stop, badly worn headboard and bathroom towel rail only heating on lower bar. Despite the negatives, we had a lovely time and it was good value for money.

Because the cold water in the bathroom does not appear to be mains fed, It would be good for the hotel, at least initially, to provide a source of cold water suitable for drinking.

Very quiet and about 2 miles from civilisation but very peaceful.

If you want to go off grid for a day or two this hotel is highly recommended.Not far from Pendle hill either for a leg stretch.

Hotel a little tired with threadbare carpets leading to upstairs rooms. We paid extra for a premium room which ha a lovely view but again, tired with dated bathroom with shower over the bath. We were on all inclusive Travelzoo deal which cost just over £200 with room upgrade but evening meal extremely limited to fish and chips, gammon and chips and cheese and onion pie. Although upgrades were available. Staff wonderful but didn’t make up for overall disappointing hotel which is desperately in need for a refurbishment.
