Pay less than £30 a head for a delicious 3-course dinner for two and a glass of champagne each at Lewtrenchard Manor, a gorgeous Jacobean manor house located just outside Okehampton, whose restaurant is recommended as one of Devon's finest in the Michelin Guide 2011, the AA Restaurant Guide and the Good Food Guide 2011.
This elegant dining experience would usually cost £125 but is available exclusively to Travelzoo subscribers for just £59. Available from Monday to Friday until the end of November, the offer includes:
- Glass of champagne each on arrival
- Any two starters from the à la carte menu. We like the sound of ballotine of salmon with a citrus and herb salad, or seared scallops with apple jelly
- Any two main courses, such as rib-eye of beef with beurre rouge sauce, or fillet of sea bream with a minestrone of vegetables and pesto
- Any two desserts - we're tempted by the dark chocolate delice with blueberries and orange cardamon, and the selection of West Country cheeses served with chutney and biscuits
The kitchen at Lewtrenchard Manor is headed up by multi-award-winning chef John Hooker, who was a regional finalist on the BBC's "Great British Menu". The hotel, which dates back to the early 1600s, is set in its own shrub-filled gardens and is surrounded by peaceful parkland. Some 80% of the food cooked in the restaurant is grown in the manor grounds.
