For £129 for two, escape to the brand-new Mere Golf Resort & Spa in the Cheshire countryside, which opened last month after a £15 million redevelopment.

Close to the pretty town of Knutsford, this lakeside resort is home to an 18-hole golf course designed by James Braid. The course, set in mature parkland, with a unique floating bell driving range, is often referred to as the "Wentworth of the North".
