Head to the centre of Berlin -- land of top museums, intimate art galleries and an eclectic nightlife -- with this 2-night hotel package for £56 (69€) per person. Rates at the 4-star Hotel Domicil Berlin have been cut by up to 64%.
The deal includes daily breakfast with views over the rooftops of Berlin and a room upgrade (subject to availability), plus currywurst (curried sausage) and a glass of Berliner Weisse beer on arrival.
The hotel is close to Kurfürstendamm boulevard, with its designer shops and swanky restaurants. It has a rooftop restaurant serving traditional German cuisine -- we like the sound of the Rinderroulade, which is rolled beef in a spicy sauce with stewed cucumbers, bacon and onions.
It's a 2-minute walk to both Charlottenburg S-Bahn station and Wilmesdorfer Strasse U-Bahn station. Take a walk around the lantern-lit streets of the 16th-century Nikolai Quarter, or take in the creative atmosphere of Hackescher Markt, where arty types sell their wares.
Travelzoo’s UK publisher is a big fan of Berlin and suggests all visitors try the improbable local speciality that is currywurst. "It may sound like quite the wrong kind of culinary hybrid," he says, "but, in my experience, doubters soon find it addictive and just the right fuel for striding around Berlin in the crisp winter weather."
This offer is valid for stays until 28 March. Not available on 16-21 January; 5-7 February; 5-8 March.
