More Room Types

Sweeping views of the fells, an AA-Rosette restaurant and just nine rooms in a converted 19th-century lodge – the family-run Ravenstone Lodge Hotel offers a relaxed stay in the north of the Lake District National Park.

This area of the Lakes is best known for its mountain scenery and variety of walking routes – the hotel is close to Bassenthwaite Lake and sits at the foot of Ullock Pike. You’re also just five miles from the medieval market town of Keswick and about seven miles from Derwentwater, another large lake surrounded by hills, known locally as fells. Castlerigg Stone Circle, considered to date back as far as the Bronze Age, is approximately 15 minutes’ drive away.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Coach House, serves an AA rosette-awarded menu designed to satisfy the heartiest of appetites. Look for dishes such as braised brisket of Lakeland beef, spring asparagus and truffle risotto and sticky baked meringue with saffron-poached rhubarb. For lighter bites and an even more relaxed feel, there’s the Stable Bar & Bistro, which also has a selection of local beers, or the Conservatory, which has views of the gardens and where you can enjoy a pot of tea – or something stronger.

Each room has its own unique personality – and each is named after a local fell (for example, Randel Crag, Ullock Pike) - but all feature en-suite bathrooms and flat-screen televisions. Some rooms have four-poster beds and views of the garden, terrace or surrounding fells.
