We were absolutely impressed with the staff. Dining was a pleasure and the dining hall space is inviting and rustically authentic. The location is lovely and the grounds are expansive offering lots of room to explore.

We found the buildings were badly in need of repair - a lot of wood rot is evident around windows etc. Also, the chalets are dark and poorly lit. Improved lighting would help a lot!

We stayed in cabin 11. Although very clean…it is lacking any type of storage it would be helpful to have a hook at least in bathroom to hang something on

Rooms could use a few more amenities - chest of drawers (for folded clothes), small table or desk, more electrical outlets, towel racks in the bathroom.

Friendly staff, dining room view was lovely. The corn chowder was excellent. Breakfast buffet was excellent
Other Comments
Definitely not geared to old folk - uneven walkways, stairs down to swimming pool, odd steps into main lodge. Steep stairs into some accommodations. Entrance carpet to our cottage was dirty. Bathtub was very difficult to climb in to and was damaged. The decaf pod coffee was awful, but very good decaf in the main lodge. The dinner menu was the same each night, although a special was offered one night. The steak dinner was very, very chewy. The dog relief area was right between two cottages - not very nice for those occupants. No mention was made at all about the spa facilities other than telling us there was a sauna which they would prepare if we wanted to use it.

We enjoyed a two nights stay, a package we bought through Travelzoo. We wished we had time to stay longer. The cottage resort is kept clean and orderly with enough personnel. It is a cottage resort, so we did not expect luxury, but decent cottage living accomodation. And this is what we got! A large room, nicely furnished, very clean and with all the necessary amenities, plenty of towels for the bathroom (missing hooks or towel bars for them though) and for the beach, a lovely restaurant with meals that we enjoyed, a beach cared for, plenty of equipment to use on the lake, even a spa where we had an excellent massage, and a quiet view of the lake that still lingers with us... We noticed the visit of some geese on the lawn, and we were appreciative of the work done by the personnel to clean after them! In the reception house, two rooms are to be used by guests to watch TV, videos, or play games. It is remarkable how well maintained and managed the property is. The service by all personnel is outstanding, always with a smile on the face. If you do not mind sharing the common place with other people, and do not want to bring your food and cook on your vacation, this is a great place to be in Muskoka

Food was really good this time. The menu was much better than the previous time we were there. Very generous portions.
The only issues is a lot more shade is needed by the lake, there was only 1 umbrella. And there is a geese problem. They really should get a dog to keep them away. The staff does come out to clean up the dropping but it just doesn’t look good.

Nice place but was disappointed with the fact that the pool was closed in a heatwave, especially with temps in the 30’s. As well, couldn’t open a couple of windows in the chalets as there were no screens. Restaurant was great! Not for people with mobility issues

I can not express how amazing Trillium Resort staff was for my husband and I. Above and beyond gracious, kind, funny just made us feel like we were someone not just a guest. It poured rain on the saturday as we were going to dinner. Rouchelle our server went out and returned with blankets. Like " WHAT " who does this? Rouchelle. The front deck was just amazing with help when we needed it and we had a movie night and ( I wish I caught her name ) but oh my gosh I wanted to give her the biggest Hug ever. Beyond what I ever expected. You can be assured we will be back again. Oh, the cabin was so much fun and clean, the food delish. I just can't say enough about Trillium.

Overall was a good experience. 1st night had water pouring through the window and dripping starting at 3:30am. I did not get back to sleep. Had to move the next day, which interrupted our spa experience. It was not the relaxing retreat I was expecting. After I asked the front desk, I was told I’d have to talk to the manager Wednesday as she was not in then.
I was given a gift certificate for 1 night in a cottage. As I paid for a chalet I was disappointed the same wasn’t offered. It would have been nice to offer something above a room. Unfortunately nothing was offered to cover my unmet expectations. The reason we chose Trillium Resort was to relax, catch up on my sleep and have no stress or problems to deal with. Based on this feedback, you know they were not met.

We enjoyed hiking the trails, canoeing, hot tub, pool and sauna on site. Our dinners and the breakfast buffet were delicious. We stayed in the "Birch" Cabin, it was cozy and super clean, equipped with everything we needed (towels, coffee maker, fridge, mugs, microwave). The management does not care about regular customers, only wedding parties where they make the most money. There was an incident where a guest became aggressive at dinner, a beautiful ambiance was interrupted with unstable behavior. This guest happened to be our neighbors at the resort. Management was aware and did nothing, not even a check in. We wrote management an email ; an occurrence in their property at the very least requires a well being check in of the guest.
Another big issue is the cook who is also the night manager ; he was the only kind and balanced employee but he's stretched. There are facilities which are advertising but can only be used if the guest starts them after the groundskeeper goes home. This issue of being understaffed is not the guest's problem. The peaceful environment is not respected by unprofessional staff. This place by nature has potential, the owner Rob and innkeeper Michelle just doesn't care. It takes one incident. TZ should not endorse this type of behavior which can lead to a violent situation and management not only does nothing but not even violates the guest.
