  • The lodge has a rich history dating back to the 1920s when the Painter family operated cabins on Campbell River Spit—in 1938, they expanded to the oceanfront location where the resort currently sits
  • Past guests praise the lodge's tranquil atmosphere and clean, spacious rooms
  • It's a short drive from downtown, where you'll find the Discovery Passage Aquarium, Fisherman's Wharf Marina and The Museum at Campbell River
  • Head to Discovery Pier for some fishing; this is Canada’s first and longest public saltwater fishing pier, extending over 180 metres into the Discovery Passage
  • Campbell River is renowned for whale watching; catch a tour and spot orcas and humpback whales, as well as dolphins and sea lions
  • There are also five provincial parks in the area; the closest to the lodge is Elk Falls Provincial Park, a five-minute drive away

The room we got had a weird smell. Next room same thing so we actually janded in room key and left. But they told us to come back and they gave us an upgrade. Upgrade was ok very basic perhaps we are just not "lodge" people

Can’t beat the view. The room was large, nicely furnished, directly over the beach. Dining experience was average, but again, the view! Close enough to Campbell River to run into town for a meal.

Resort location and heritage lodge ambiance is beautiful. Rooms are in need of the upcoming renovations, would be better served utilized having hot tub than outdoor pool in cold weather as it’s not covered nor bathrobes/pool towels supplied.
Other Comments
Heat register very loud made it hard to sleep at night. Access to the beach would be nice. Staff was friendly. Restaurant food was delicious, dining room was closed to private party.

Enjoyed being there, lovely and quiet.

My only complaint might be to please not leave the several large bags of laundry sitting outside our room for long periods of time, looks unsightly.

Short stay getaway, first time at Painter’s Lodge. Beautiful location, great staff, decent amenities. The property shows its age in places, but that’s part of its charm. Our suite could use an updated bathroom, more plugins, and repainting, but it looks like new ownership is working towards upgrading the entire property. Enjoyable stay, will come back.

The lounge area is very comfortable, pub-style dining is fine although a few more lighter/ healthy food options would be appreciated. Beautiful location with views across to Quadra Island.
