About the Destination
Getting to Alert Bay is part road trip, part coastal voyage—and that’s exactly the appeal. Begin with a BC Ferries crossing from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, then follow Highway 19 north through the forests and shoreline communities of Vancouver Island toward Port McNeill. From there, a final 45-minute ferry ride carries you across the water to Cormorant Island.
