"Uphams Inns were a new name to us, so we were intrigued to try them. We booked The White Hart at South Harting, a pretty little village in the South Downs National Park. Our room was larger than expected, lovely big shower, food very good, and a cosy log fire to sit beside and enjoy a pint or two. We didn't do any of the recommended walks (a feature of Upham Inns), but will do on future visits. We found it convenient for visits to Downland Weald Museum, Petworth House, and the historic city of Chichester."

Away for a Twixmas break, and we never go very far from home, The White Hart at Overton was perfect. From the outside the pub doesn't look much, but it is full of charm, subdivided into many "rooms" all beautifully decorated for Christmas. The rooms in the main building were very comfortable, but if you have balance issues, ask for a room in the new block outside. The floors are very wavy and we didn't know if it was the floor or the drink when we go up during the night!.

The breakfasts were fantastic and enough to feed a horse if you had the full English. Other choices were also great, with nice cereal/granola options, fresh fruit and pastries. Our evening meal was very good too. Suggest booking for a dinner, as it is very popular.

We met up with friends for a pre-Christmas meal. Our room was very comfortable and, being alongside the pub, quiet. There was a quiz going on, which did make the bar rather noisy, but the manager gave us 2 bottles of very nice wine to compensate, which we thought very generous.

Thoroughly enjoyed our couple of days at the Running Horse, was very welcoming and we loved the set up of rooms at the rear, like stables! There was a small area at the back of the outside areas where it was possible to walk our aged dog and the inn was extremely dog friendly. She had her own blanket and towel and a little box containing a toy, treats and poo bags! There was a small area at the front with a seat and table which would be an ideal spot to sit in warmer weather. Would definitely like to go back in warmer weather to give it a try. There are loads of tables and seats outside so I imagine it would be very popular in the summer months. We had bed and breakfast but also ate in the pub one evening. Delicious homemade pies!
Other Comments
Just wanted to add a mention to two chefs Rob and Cam for the excellent game and fish pies, definitely recommended, and the best scrambled egg at breakfast, perfect! Thanks to both of you!
