Why We Love This Hotel

  • Previously a 1950s brick apartment building, The Anndore House relaunched in 2018 with historical accents and modern comforts
  • Each industrially-designed room has a rainforest shower, plush leather club chairs and a record player with a curated selection of LPs
  • Local favourite Crows Nest barbershop, born out of the city’s beloved Kensington Market, is located right inside the hotel
  • On-site Constantine restaurant focuses on the cuisine of distinct regions in the Mediterranean
  • Its casual counterpart, Scarlet Door café, serves the daytime crowd with unique coffees and pastries—the interior is designed to give a nod to the punk and new wave scenes that defined the neighbourhood in the 1970s and 1980s
  • The hotel is steps away from the bright lights of Yonge and Bloor, and a short walk from galleries, theatres, shops and nightlife—the full-service guest experience team will happily suggest what to see and do in the area

hotel did everything to add to security issues such as door person, locked doors but walking on the street is completely unsafe
Other Comments
the neighbourhood is completely unsafe for a single woman traveller - it is advertised as Bloor and Yorkville but that is not the neighbour

Room was nice, building is good, the restaurant was solid, and the location is central.

We had an awful experience with both check in and check out. When we arrived around 3:30pm, the clerk informed us that they could not find our reservation, and told us to « just go wait in the lobby and someone will find you ». After 15 mins I checked in and was told that my reservation wasn’t sent to the hotel. Another hour passed before we finally demanded to know what was going on, and we were told that the manager was « talking to travelzoo ». We still had no idea as to whether we actually had a room for the night. Another hour passed, and we were told that there would be a room, but it would be another hour wait. Not great given that we had tickets for a 6:00pm activity. After being ignored for another hour, we finally got told that our room was ready. By then it was 5:30, so we had enough time to drop our bags and go - not exactly a relaxing experience. The staff were apologetic, and we did get a room upgrade. The room was nice, and our overall stay was fine. However, at checkout they could not get the bill right. We were supposed to be complex for the 2 drinks we had, but I was honestly just tired of dealing with the staff. I suspect that there are some management issues and don’t blame that staff that we were working with at all.

Only issue was at checkout. I had already been charged for the stay prior to checkout. All charges processed. Front desk employee was argumentative saying I hadn’t paid at all and the charges were for the meals and breakfast. We didn’t eat any meals or even enter any of the restaurants or bars. We didn’t even use the drinks included in our stay. It was a stressful check out. I didn’t care for that.

Easy to both book and check in. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Unique and unusual room—liked it a lot! Valet parking fast and friendly. Staff at breakfast buffet were friendly and accommodating, and the food was good quality. The organization of the buffet itself was challenging...four trips up to get coffee, juices, and food. Overall, a lovely and fun stay!
